How do you feel about your dem congress critters?
Everyone bitches about the dem congress but it seems like many if not most support their own dem congress critters. There are of course notable exceptions, but by and large it seems that the dem congressional reps we dislike are not our own.

2. My congress critter is a Republican
Harry Reid is one of my Senators and I do support him. I wish he had not taken the position of Senate leader as it has, somewhat, tied his hands by forcing him to moderate his positions to garner consensus for legislation. Not as liberal as I am, he is still far more liberal than the Blue Dogs.

My other Senator is Ensign, anti-worker and pro-rape.

3. I wish I had one.

My rethuglican Congressman (Gresham Barrett) is one of the most useless creatures on the planet. Even a Blue Dog would be better than this clown He makes the likes of Bart Stupak look good. Fortunately, he will not be running again in November. Unfortunately, he's running for governor, and we're just as likely to get another useless rethuglican filling his seat.

4. Well, North Dakota has Kent Conrad, so what you say is not entirely true.
I'll trade Kent for a couple of sand bags.

5. I'm pleased with one of my senators
Sherrod Brown (OH). Otherwise, I wouldn't have his image as my avatar. I'm lukewarm over my rep, Zack Space. He's considered a blue dog, although the repugs have attempted to portray him on billboards literally as Nancy Pelosi's puppet.

6. I'd be happy if I had one to bitch about
My critter is a pub and he's retiring this year, but his replacements are worse than him, if that's possible. There's no chance a Democrat will be elected in this gerrymandered district. Even if one ran, it would be a DINO like the dorks in the two adjacent districts.

7. in general or mine in particular?
In general, I think they need to grow a spine and remember who put them into office.

I have a high opinion of my Congressman and we're trying to organize a rally outside his office in support of him (a month ago teabaggers organized a rally outside his office demanding that voters fire him). Spoken with him on a few occasions, and he's as liberal as I am but has to publicly hide it due to demographics of his district.

9. yes, yours in particular. I don't see how I could have made it clearer in the OP
that that's what I was asking. And congress critters include Senators too, of course

10. It's not the critters so much as congress
Congress critters are, for the most part, just overly ambitious people who want to stay in their jobs. Some of them are corrupt but the vast majority are not. The problem is that, for example, a freshman congressman has to raise several thousand dollars a week from the time they are sworn in to be re-elected. Naturally they are going to turn to big donors.

and really really getting in the way of campaign reform through voter action.

I'm in Boehner's district, but I'm curious to see more responses downthread.

Hopefully, the Democrats will put someone I can vote for this time.

15. My only Dem critter at the Ntl level is good ole Harry Reid
and I will vote for him no matter what. What other alternative do I have? None whatsoever, that's what. That being said, as a Senator for our state, he's really no so bad ~ not as bad as right wingers and many Dems here and elsewhere think, anyway. As for his role as Senate Majority Leader, well, that's a different story, and we all know the ups and downs suffered there.

16. Mine is one of the better ones for sure.
Lynn Woolsey's 6th district covers Marin County and most of Sonoma County, California.

She's progressive, but not quite far enough to the left for me. I do like her though.

Barbara Boxer is one of my senators, and I love her! Di-Fi, not so much. (I voted against her, and for the Green Party candidate last time around)

I'm lucky to have some great reps, but that's because I choose to live in one of the more civilized areas in the country. :smoke:

17. Oh, I keep an eye on them
through http://www.progressivepunch.org

One of my Senators was balky when it came to signing the letter favoring a public option during the reconciliation process. I sent him a terse and nasty note and got quite a nice letter in return addressing my points and he signed onto the public option. So I guess he's OK. The other Senator was one of the first signers.

My Rep is also quite good and has voted the way I would in the House. It's his first term and he's going to bear watching.

The other two Reps in my state are quite different. One is a liberal Democrat and the other is a conservative, but the conservative has an outstanding rating on labor issues. All three are first termers.

So I'd say keep an eye on your own SOB because I'm keeping an eye on mine.

Lindsey Graham-cracker, Jim DimWitt, and Bob Ingliss (R's-Extreme Right) are my congress-creeps.

24. Well, I gots no complaints against any of them...
except maybe Schumer, who just grates me the wong way. But, he votes the right way, so I wouldn't do anything to lose him. Gillibrand is coming around as an excellent student and a worthy Senator. I hope she makes it through the November meatgrinder, although there doesn't seem to be a Republican up to the challenge.

My Rep, Tim Bishop (NY 1) is a great guy and has done a lot for the district, although at the town meetings not teabagged few people ask about the great questions of the day. It's usually about stuff like dredging Mattituck inlet or the county water pipe out to East marion. Saltwater fishing licenses. Local stuff.

Unfortunately, he has a target on his back. he has a decent war chest, but last time out an unknown picked up the challenge because few Republicans wanted to waste their time-- and the unknown significantly narrowed the gap. This time out, the teabaggers and normal Republicans are looking for a better challenger and digging deep for money. The district is about 60% Republican, and the question is whether the fierce loyalty of Bishop's fans can come through again.

Got an R in the other house with Steve Austria, and a retiring ex-governor R for the other Senator. Hey, at least Brown is the best there is! The best damned Senator in the land! Wish we had Grayson as our Congressman.

27. I don't like mine very much
Solomon Ortiz. He's a corporate whore. Who isn't though? He rarely has a primary challenger but if he does, I vote for that person, no matter who they are. But I vote third party or abstain in the general. I won't vote for a Republican (especially not the ones around here) but I won't vote for Ortiz either.
