A local students rights organization, the Mississippi Safe Schools Coalition, says it has received dozens of offers from around the nation to hold a prom for students of Itawamba Agricultural High School.

Signatures are also being gathered for a petition backing Colorado Congressman Jared Polis’s Student Non-Discrimination Act (H.R. 4530), which would ban discrimination against LGBT students and an effort is underway to have Congressman Polis change the name of his bill to the Constance McMillen Bill.

And a Facebook page—”Let Constance Take Her Girlfriend to Prom“, now has well over 100,000 members.

The Mississippi Safe Schools Coalition says it is trying to organize a Second Chance Prom, this year in Constance’s community, so that ALL students, gay and straight, at Itawamba will have the opportunity to be themselves at the prom.

“We have so many people willing to donate money, resources, time,” said Mississippi Safe Schools Coalition Communications Director. Matthew Sheffield, “We are trying to figure out what we are going to do.”

And I would make damn sure it was the nicest one too, with no expense spared in showing everyone who attended an absolutely fabulous time. Five star venue, best everything. Damn fools on that school board would be going, "Oh shit" when they saw what those kids got from me.

Let the marketplace determine. Kids can choose the A-list stylish, tasteful, diverse super cool event vs. the trashy, bigoted, unhip, subsitute.

I hope some big name band volunteers to play at the tolerance and diversity prom. Let the haters play canned country music and drink unsweetened kool-aid.
