3 things and I'm going to have a beer
1) The economy is going nowhere. No fucking where. Do you want to know why? What were the causes of this crisis? A bad banking system and a jump in the price of gasoline.

Has the banking system been fixed? What is the price of gasoline? What happens to the price of gasoline every time there is improvement in the economy? Give you a hint, the price goes up and the banking system is insolvent with overvalued assets sitting on their books at historical values.

Common sense, have we fixed the problem that caused us to be where we are at? No, therefore it must be assumed we aren't going anywhere.

On a side note, I'll give you a hint on why gas cost so much. Part of it is peak oil. The other part is back in the days we had No Fly Zones in Iraq, Saddam Hussein was cheating OPEC. That is right, he was cheating the OPEC rules to get himself more money. When we invaded Iraq, we took care of that little problem for OPEC. Don't know if we did it intentionally or not because we are stupid as a country sometime, and George was one of our more stupid occupiers of that office. Either way, OPEC is now working again as a team, probably in reaction to us invading Iraq. They can starve us to death. So I do not blame equation item number 2 on the President, but he sure as hell could send a message by enforcing the known regulations on a few bad guys from AIG or Lehman or Ernst & Young to do equation item #1 in this economic mess.

2) The US congress is incapable of tying their own fucking shoes right now. They couldn't pass a bill with 12 months and super majorities in one party. Why are they inept, because they are fucking greedy and out of touch to what is going on outside of Washinton D.C. There are a few who know what is going on, but the majority of them are greedy idiots, and it isn't a partisan thing.

3) The Healthcare reform bill makes no frakking sense. You have told me for years that the problem is private insurers doing all kinds of shenanigans is the cause for the health care problem in this country, and your answer to this problem is to mandate everyone to buy private insurance? Are you kidding me. Spare me the regulation talk, the government can't even enforce the existing regulations on thieving bankers because the regulators are inept, corrupt, or a little of both and people hate the banks with a burning passion.

27. That makes me think of this song by Styx.
The lyrics are a reminder that Jake, like many, is well qualified for work he cannot get, and the burden of that is a heavy one for anyone. We need more jobs, and we need them now.

6. Before you pop a top, lemme disagree on one minor point.
where you said Congress is inept
"because they are fucking greedy and out of touch to what is going on outside of Washinton D.C."

Greedy I can agree with.
Have you noticed that they are plenty "ept" when it comes to moving legislation which benefits
the real owners of this country?
Time after time.

they know what's going on. They just don't give a fuck unless it benefits them.
All you have to is buy off the key leaders of Congress, who will control the dimmer bulbs,
let the few good guys yell all they want, the important legislation always has enough votes.

15. What would you expect from someone with such disdain for liberals?
"You know there is a reason that the liberals only make up 20% of the population while conservatives make up twice that at 40%. Liberals have a bad habit of being self destructive. I suspect a major reason for this is that they are younger and lack the wisdom that comes with life experience. " NJMaverick

34. "not quite as old as dirt, but we went to school together." ROFL
My last birthday, I got a card that read:

"I was channeling the spirit of a 3000 year old warrior the other day. He says he remembers you from high school."

My husband and I were doing a job recently where the customer wanted the carvings in their home gilded to look like the ornamentation on the walls of a tomb in Uzbekistan that dates from 230 BC. As he was describing it to a fellow tradesman, the other tradesman turned to him and said, "I think I remember you telling me about that tomb. Didn't you do the original leafing on that one?"

(brief side trip for comedy)

16. dont forget jobs, and the bigger picture, the Walmarting of America
If we all had jobs, we'd be paying taxes, buying cars, buying houses, and putting some savings away in the BANK.

But no, we have worked this country like a big fucking Walmart and now we are realizing that we are stuck with a piece of cheap plastic shit. Can we do it cheaper? Screw quality, do it cheaper. Lay off half the office and make the other half work harder, else they'll get fired. Insurance, we cant afford that anymore. Spend money on infrastructure, fuck that, when it breaks we'll move on to the next city, town, state, country (Look out India and China).

Capitalism is a cancer and we are approaching the terminal stage.

If we would stop thinking about the CEO's and shareholders and start thinking about the people.... oh whatever, it's not going to happen until we storm the gates of the rich and that wont happen as long as we've got cable tv, internet, walmart cheap plastic shit, and a .99 cent value meal that we can gourge our stupid fat faces on.

...that beer is looking pretty good, and his eight remaining friends in the case are in trouble too.

Edited on Sat Mar-13-10 01:12 PM by AllentownJake
Simple reason, it will be a strong currency and they can buy gas with it cheaply than.

After of course ours deteriorates from all the nonsense we are doing right now.

They'll deplete their worthless dollar reserves for it till than, and keep gas high on us.

48. And yet somehow this is all Nancy Pelosi's fault, in a lot of people's eyes. I had no idea...
... that under her leadership the House had gotten ALL of that done -- seriously, I have to get away from this place -- until she said it, and pointed out that it is ALL sitting in the dysfunctional Senate.

Another interesting thing one of the commentators said about her: Nancy Pelosi has never lost a vote in the House. She apparently doesn't let a Democratic bill come to a vote until she is sure it will pass -- and when it comes time to vote, it passes.

I don't think she gets near enough credit in these parts.

it was about Saddam changing the price every other day... Which was devastating to the oil men in Houston. The plan was written for the oil boys... However, the war machine got quite a nice kick as well.. which the Carlyle Group desperately needed.

1999... Way before George was installed as the Dictator in Chief. The entire story of Weapons of Mass Destruction was Distraction conveniently made up for the fearful American after 9/11. The media and their hyped up rhetoric along with politicians (who supposedly have more intel and aren't supposed to lie) were all over the place screaming terra, terra, terra.... People in the middle of no where were affraid to do anything other than buy plastic, duct tape, and hunker down with their water and canned foods items... When they were in more danger of being struck by lightening, killed in a car accident, or die from lack of health insurance/ care.

Unemployment dropped from 10.2% to 9.7%

Consumer spending is increasing

Inventories falling

Housing makes stabilizing

Virtually all economic indicators point toward net job growth this spring.

The malcontents can whine all they want, but Obama's economic policies saved us from a Great Depression and turned the economy around.

too fucking bad...
