3. Does this guy know the book is non-fiction? |
|
I know the movie is a dramatization but the source book and its picture of total dishonesty and dysfunction isn't fantasy, or even news.

7. Ooh, another RW "well known fact" aka well-known lie: |
|
"the United Nations, France, Germany, and Russia (among others) all had the same intel we did showing Saddam in possession of WMD."
If I even gave a crap about this John Nolte douchebag I would respond.

but I think some of the things in Rambo are successful messages. The first one, based on the book, was about a guy who came home from a war where he lost everyone he knew and was mistreated by authorities. That's a theme that actually runs through all the films. Yeah, there's the blowing up shit everyone remembers (so I know the point you're making, and agree)--and damn was that last one vi-o-lent, but I think Stallone's heart's in the right place with that character. It's mostly about a guy who wants to go home from a war he didn't ask for.

Unlike a lot of actors, I think Matt actually reads the scripts his agent sends him before committing to a project.

17. That review was ridiculous |
|
I dont understand how somebody can get so pissed off about a movie, claim it lies so badly that anyone with an IQ over 75 wouldn't get fooled, and then not explain why its a lie. The closest he comes to offering any sort of rebuttal is when he says that the UN and England had the same intelligence.
I honestly would like to see any conservative give some sort of explanation as to why this movies premise is false.
From what I understand, it has been proven without a doubt that the Bush administration used intelligence that it knew to be suspect when making the case for the existence of WMD's. Now in the year 2010 we know that Saddam did not have WMD's and the intelligence used was false. Seems like a pretty open and shut case to me.

19. Mal Vincent gave it a bad review because he said we'd already heard it all on CNN |
|
Edited on Sun Mar-14-10 01:08 PM by rainy
So I sent my LTTE: Dear Editors:
Mal Vincint’s ho hum dismissal of the thought that Iraq had no WMD is to say it’s ok to turn our backs on truth and justice. He suggests that the lies that took our brave men and women into an illegal and unjust war should never be examined in film because he thinks we have all learned the truth from CNN. Really Mal? CNN has informed us of how we were lied into this human atrocity; this sick invasion and destruction of a country and its people; this illegal, dishonest war for control of natural resources that belong to the Iraqi people (think Avatar)? WOW I missed that on CNN! In his write up of “Green Zone” he says “This may be the only movie released in this country that actually suggest that you root for the Iraqis:” is Mal suggesting that the Iraqis are our enemies? I thought we went there to SAVE them. When did they become our enemies? Before we invaded their county they had NEVER threatened us, never hated us nor ever killed a one of us. Then, we decided we didn’t like their leader, whom we helped place in his leadership role in the 80’s , and we prepared to kill tens of thousands of Iraqis in the process of removing him because our leaders said we should be afraid of his non-existing weapons. Aren’t there smarter safer ways to remove leaders who truly are a REAL threat to our safety? The Iriqi people deserve our sympathy. We have destroyed their country, polluted their land and water, killed tens of thousands of them and their children for what????????
