Democratic leadership is playing us for fools. Killing the public option. |
|
The truth is Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid don't want to pass the public option. That would offend the insurance company lobbyists and the big pharma lobbyists so what the Democratic Leadership is trying to do is kill the public option but pretend it is really all the Republican's fault. That's just bullshit. They have the votes in the house to pass it and, as Rachael Maddow showed last night, there are officially 51 Democratic Senators who still publicly claim to support the public option and right up to this vary day are mailing out campaign donation request forms saying they'll support the public option. The votes are there.
We, the people, elected these dirt bags to get us a public option and they're selling us down river because they care more about lobbyist money then they do our money or how we volunteer time to get these traitors elected. I say force the issue and MAKE THEM VOTE IN PUBLIC! That way we know EXACTLY who the traitors are, the ones who claim to want the popular public option but who are secretly working to kill it, and then we can target the traitors in the next primaries or even in the general election. I'd be perfectly happy to lose a few Democratic seats provided it puts the fear of god into the ones who remain; we want them scared of us, we the people, so that they know if they betray us we will vote them out.
Why is it Republicans can get lock step voting with all their members but we liberals are just supposed to accept it when our own party's leadership constantly stabs us in the back? I'll tell you why. Because Republican politicians know that if they break ranks with the party leadership then their political careers are over. There voters will rise up and get rid of them in a heart beat if they don't tow the line. We liberals need to start doing the same. Kill off a few traitors (career wise) so that the remaining dirt bags are more scared of us, the voters, then they are covetous of lobbyist cash. We need blood on the streets and we need Democratic traitors losing their jobs. The only way to do that is to force them to vote on the public option so that way we can target the traitors who are trying to kill it in the back room even as they lie to us claiming they support it.

Thank you for expressing clearly a very heart felt frustration many of us have. I wish we could throw them out but money in politics makes it difficult for people to hear a populists message. :(

3. oh we've been getting shoved around - the leadership would LOVE |
|
a Democratic lockstep. Rahm and his buddies are counting on that. But we have far too many people on our side who are NOT mouthbreathing morons who fall for Tiger Beat moments and the occasional *look what we plan to do for YOU* photo ops. Of course, the mouthbreathing morons have joined the chorus of marginalizing Kucinich and anyone else who doesn't toe the line - but they don't realize they are pissing people off more. And November will be a bloodbath.
And it will be the fault of the Leadership* and their aides. Ignore the free thinking base at your peril.

5. They think we are fools but they are going to be getting some surprises |

in November I believe. Remember, that it has happened before during the Clinton Presidency. It makes me sad because I don't think it will be good for our country to get another Congress that is trying to turn us into a third world country by doing everything they can, whether willfully or unintentionally, to eliminate the middle class. A strong middle class is the economic backbone of any country.

7. I fear you may be correct. The WH certainly made it clear they do not support the PO. |

I want to see the up and down vote and I want all cards on the table as to who really supports a PO.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#35846081That link is to yesterday's Rachael Maddow show entitled "Who killed the public option?" The reality is the Democratic leadership is killing it rather then doing what we the people want and they sure don't want to give the public option a fair up or down vote.

If we believe the nebulous "public option" is a proper goal, instead of single-payer or socialized medicine like other modern countries have.

I'd prefer true single payer but realize that will not happen short of a revolution. Instead I will go for the evolutionary path where we have a public option side by side with the for profit "care" which simply doesn't deliver much actual care. I'm positive that when people see they can get better care costing a fraction of the price then the majority will shift to the public option. To bad our own party leadership is deliberately killing the public option.

16. But "public option" defined as what? |
|
Something for 3% of Americans? With all kinds of restrictions preventing it from being any sort of legitimate competition?

17. Medicare buy in for all. |
|
Edited on Mon Mar-15-10 07:05 AM by Oerdin
I want a medicare buy in (at cost) option for all American. Anything less is just a give away to insurance companies. You might ask yourself why insurance companies did everything in their power to first limit the public option to just 3% of the population and then to eliminate it all together but the answer is obvious. Insurance companies know that a large not for profit program like medicare would be their death kneel if it became widely available because people would get great care but not have to pay bloated CEO salaries or massive profits to shareholders. It's just a better system which would cover vastly more people while costing less money because the useless middlemen have been cut out.

"There voters will rise up and get rid of them in a heart beat if they don't tow the line. We liberals need to start doing the same"
There are more Democrats in the party than liberals, and those Democrats are more scared of what THEIR voters will do if they do tow the liberal line, than they are of not towing it.
