Why so many threads attacking Kucinich and few or none attacking Stupak.... |
|
and the other anti-abortion Blue Dogs?
Could it be that Rahm and Obama want to give cover to the Blue Dogs in 2010 and allow the progressives to twist in the wind?

5. yup. The corporatist Dems seem to be concerned that this magnificent |
|
bill protecting disease management insurance corporations won't pass b/c of a man who has principles, who can't be bought. So out come the attackers to slime him.
How dare Kucinich hold onto his principles! (sarcasm off)

6. Because people here defend Kucinich. Virtually no one here defends Stupak. |
|
For what it's worth, while I am a persistent Kucinich critic, my dislike for him is far, far exceeded by my loathing for those who so oppose reproductive rights that they would sink health care reform to undermine them.

7. He's just the guy who gets the 30 minutes of hate. I've wondered too |
|
why Kucinich gets so much negative attention here. It's the Blue Dogs in the House and the ConservaDems in the Senate that have fucked this bill up. They have far more power or pull as a group than Kucinich does.

Stupak certainly deserves the criticism for his anti-choice bullshit. But all the anti-gay, anti-union, anti-American people, pro-corporate bullshit needs to be called out just as much as the Stupak Stupidity.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x7916624but that's how I roll. Maybe some people attack Kucinich because he is supposed to be on OUR side and there is not the same expectation with Stupak. I really doubt that there are very many DUers taking marching orders from Rahm or Obama. Most people start threads to add their own 2 cents to the running debate or to comment on some other article on the web.

Seriously. Stupak is taking 14 votes with him. How many votes does Kucinich control?

20. Cult-like appreciation? |
|
You can't think of any other Democrats who people hold a "cult-like" (to use your term) appreciation for?
Anyway, the real issue is the overwhelmingly overblown response to Kucinich's stance. He is one out of 435 House members, and the odds that he will be the vote that defeats Health Care Reform are pretty high. Dennis knows this. He is negotiating with the power that he has. Just what the Repubs are doing, just what the Blue Dogs are doing, just what other progressives are doing, just what other congressional members - Senators and House members - are doing. Is his approach the best or effective? Debatable. Might it be effective and still allow him to stand by his principles? Could be. Might he ultimately vote in a way that produces real damage? Maybe, probably not. Are the attacks on him histrionic and overdone. No question.

26. Sadly..it's not only Rahm...but some of it might be Obama.... |
|
We are dealing with Reality of the DLC... Obama's Administration is "Clinton II."
It seems to be following some terrible path downwards into Triangulation that Clinton elected for after his Monica Problem.
I don't blame Obama...but his choice of his Cabinet and the rest of his Administration. Clinton II...and shouldn't we who defended Bill throughout the "Monica Thing" have been rewarded? Instead with Clinton II we get Neo-Cons and Neo-Libs and Corporatists ALL AT THE TABLE. BUT, NO PROGRESSIVES who stuck with him through those years and even many who would have been happier with Hillary than Obama...even THEY GET TRASHED along with the CAPTIVE OBAMA so that CLINTON II can REDEEM ITSELF.
What's NEXT? BUSH I and II REHAB THEMSELVES FOR A GENERATION? Next Election we get JEB?
Where does this END. It's CIRCULAR!

|
Edited on Sun Mar-14-10 08:30 PM by sabrina 1
Blue Dogs. He told them to leave the Blue Dogs alone.
Kucinich is a liberal. Rahm said liberals are 'stupid retards'.
Most important to remember in answer to your question:
Stupak's anti-women amendment was included by Democrats. Obviously women are dispensible.
Kucinich's pro states right to have single payer amendment was instantly shot down.
The administration is a DLC administration, therefore there will be no tolerance for liberal views. They only talk to liberals, correction, lie to liberals when it gets close to election time.

31. Not to mention there are like 20 of them saying they will vote no |
|
and none of them get so much as a mention. Because it is not about the vote, it is about the voter, because he is right and the rest of them know it. All they can do is whine and whine about how they are not capable of anything more than mediocrity, how they are going it fix it later, or do a book report for extra credit to make up for it.
