Wow! Derek Paravicini on 60 Minutes
A young man who is severely disabled, but a musical savant. He does things that no musician would seem to have the courage to dare to do.

Yet he is incapable of knowing how old he is.

This piece brought me to tears. Wow.

1. There is so much we could learn about the human mind by examining how people
react or perform music.

3. He reminds me of my son
my son isn't a savant. he is high-functioning autistic. but he started reading when he was 3. I read to him a lot and he simply memorized words.

his personality reminds me of this guy, very much.

my son loves to act. when they talked about the wave of applause flowing over someone, I thought back to when my son was in elementary school and got to perform on a big stage.

it's wonderful when you have the family support that this guy does - and of course, the wealth that undergirds that support.

That man's story is very inspiring.

7. A wonderful story.
And the joy felt by his father, and by his teacher, were wonderful too.
