Green Zone asks where were the WMD's? |
|
Edited on Sun Mar-14-10 09:21 PM by lovuian
One of the issues in Green Zone is the Iraq war and it asks where were the WMD's
I loved the George Bush clip ...with Mission Accomplished in the background
I voted for President Obama to get us out of Iraq War of which we did a preemptive strike on a Nation which had no WMD
We Lied
and yet we are still there
Go see it there are some great messages in it
Oh by the way ...my theatre was filled

1. I saw it this afternoon. I understand now why a my Friends who are rather right-wing are... |

in two Categories: 1. Saw it but thought it was not true 2. Don't want to see it after speaking to above people.
I loved it and was very moved in parts. (Iraq Man:"You Think I do this for my Country...I do this for Everyone")

2. I was surprised it brought up Blackwater and its |
|
fighting with our troops
It must have been hell as a US soldier seeing Blackwater getting paid huge sums living in the green Zone meanwhile your sleeping on the outside
I think people forget we are STILL in IRAQ
and its costing BILLIONS of dollars and thousands of our kids lives and Iraqi people are dying
the ending was a great lesson
I love how it panned on the last shot over the oil Depots Do we know who we are?

3. My sister still says that Fox News is correct and that Iraq had |
|
WMD. That they moved them all out into other countries before the US Army could find them.
Wonder what that says about our military. According to Fox and Friends, such as my sister, they had hundreds of thousands. Now how in the hell could an army, in disarray and without means move all those WMD out of Iraq right under the nose of our military. Says a lot of what the so called republicans military lovers think of our military doesn't it. That they could let that happen.
TSK TSK a column of trucks moving all those WMD would have to be miles and miles long AND our military missed it...gee.

4. I just saw it tonight... |

Unfortunately I was a little disappointed as it seemed to be focused too much on action rather than serious commentary on the war. While I appreciated the stand it took against the lies that led us into war it did very little to really examine the tragedy brought by those lies, there was very little character development and while Damon's character was clearly questioning the rationale for going to war it never really seemed as if he faced any sort of moral challenges. He still spent most of the film shooting up Iraqis without showing any sort of emotion, it had more in common with Rambo than it did with Full Metal Jacket and that was a big disappointment to me. A story about a soldier realizing he went to war on the basis of a lie and facing the moral dilemma that comes with that could have made a great film, but instead they had to go the action thriller route and make it a typical Hollywood shoot-em-up rather than the great anti-war film it could have been.
