from the San Francisco Chronicle:

Public employee unions in Whitman's crosshairs
Joe Garofoli, Chronicle Staff Writer

Monday, March 15, 2010

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Republican Meg Whitman is sharpening her focus on one of the main foils of the billionaire executive's gubernatorial campaign: unions, particularly those representing public employees.

Her TV commercials attack GOP primary rival Steve Poizner for "joining liberal unions" to support a 2000 ballot measure that lowered the vote threshold to pass school bonds. She rejects a timeline to release her taxes, dismissing the demand as coming from a "union front for Jerry Brown." She insists that state employees make financial concessions to help balance the budget.

All of these moves are calculated to help Whitman tap into conservative and Tea Party frustrations with the increasing size of government.

At the same time, the former eBay CEO thinks private-sector workers - particularly those from the technology world - can do a better job making government more efficient and thrifty. If elected, she plans to recruit at least 100 of her top 300 key appointees from the private sector. ........(more)

3. But, but...she's going to "run California like a business"
I wish I had a nickel for every time I heard somebody promise that in their campaign.

Here in CA we hear it all the time.

The last time we heard it, it was with a heavy German accent. About six years ago.

Funny, we don't hear that accent anymore.

This silly woman is delusional.

4. Yea, but she's advertising like there's no tomorrow. I called the
State Democratic Office complaining about all the commercial spots she has when I haven't heard ONE for the Dems. This is the same Democratic Office who I called several years ago when the push to get get Gray Davis out and Arnold in was starting. I had called to volunteer to help prevent it from happening. There response? "It'll never happen." Yea... Oh why does the Democratic Party in California SUCK so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They told me that she needs to advertise to get her name out there because Jerry Brown is already well known. God help us all...this lady sounds pretty right-wing radical.

5. I knew her a little as a kid. IMO, she was poisonous then and she's
just grown into being more poisonous now, which I didn't think possible. Couldn't stand her when I was a kid, and I've always been pretty accepting -- I find something about most people that I like and always have. Not her.

6. The new meme: if you work for the government you're a trough feeding lazy idiot
And since government is the largest employer in this country how wise is it to piss off these workers?
