Saw a great Ad on Face the Nation
Edited on Mon Mar-15-10 10:08 AM by Winterblues
It was a spoof but was well done. It was a Corporation running for Office. Cut out the middle man (Senators, Representatives) and have the corporation itself run since they have been legally adorned with personhood. The catch was the corporation was not old enough according to the Constitution. Then came the question of when was the corporation actually "conceived".. The Law says it wasn't a corporation/person until the legal papers/birth certificate were signed...It was a great Ad, made me laugh out loud..

3. um... Meet Murray Hill, Inc... candidate for Maryland's 8th District.
http://thinkprogress.org/2010/01/28/corporation-election/

“Until now,” Murray Hill Inc. said in a statement, “corporate interests had to rely on campaign contributions and influence peddling to achieve their goals in Washington. But thanks to an enlightened Supreme Court, now we can eliminate the middle-man and run for office ourselves."

“The strength of America,” Murray Hill Inc. says, “is in the boardrooms, country clubs and Lear jets of America’s great corporations. We’re saying to Wal-Mart, AIG and Pfizer, if not you, who? If not now, when?"

Campaign Manager William Klein promises an aggressive, historic campaign that “puts people second” or even third. “The business of America is business, as we all know,” Klein says. “But now, it’s the business of democracy too.” Klein plans to use automated robo-calls, “Astroturf” lobbying and computer-generated avatars to get out the vote.

Murray Hill Inc. plans on spending “top dollar” to protect its investment. “It’s our democracy,” Murray Hill Inc. says, “We bought it, we paid for it, and we’re going to keep it."

6. I hope those 5
SCOTUS judges who ruled in favor of corporate personhood see this ad.

I think it would be really interesting if a genuine corporation did try to run for office. "Pizza Hut for the Senate. It's been serving families for decades. Now let it serve the great state of California."

Go for it.
