HCR: Politics Is The Art of The Possible |
|
What we will be getting here very soon is what was possible given the current environment in DC.
It will be nice when eventually we can get health care without worrying too much about how we can pay for it, but we aren't at that point yet.
The reform about to occur will be a major move in that right direction and it will be progress. It will be a change and a change for the better.

As for a change for the better, it strikes me that certain kinds of sociopathic profiteers might be very happy over it.

DC is full of the profiteers you speak of, and they have great power over DC.
They will not be trounced, indeed, but they will be set back a bit.
Overall, America is now at a place where profiteers rule. That is the reality and limits any great reform possibilities.

2. I support the passing of the bill, but disagree that it is a move in the right direction |
|
I think that the hcr bill will fail to provide affordable access to medical treatment and will prove that for profit health insurance coverage is not beneficial to the health of the American people..

4. Prove that for profit is bad? |
|
I think that is what is possible and will be - not soon enough - found to be true by just about everyone. At least we are moving in that direction and it's better than where we were a year ago.

More of a backbone would have been nice. But remember, a little over a year ago there wasn't a bill that anywhere close to making HCR.
We're close, and half the congress is just saying NO. Have you heard one good idea come from the party of NO? I haven't.
And the payoff of the reform, for political posturing, is quite unknown. A softer sell is warranted because we don't really know what the reaction will be. We damn sure don't need to sacrifice the congress in this election just for a bill that the pukes would turn around and eviscerate.
It ain't easy to bring reform to 1/6th of the American economy.

I'm not sure what kind of "advancement" or "victory" passing 15 year old GOP ideas on health care can be considered. It is a wholesale cry of "uncle".
