Kucinich may change his vote on HCR.
Just a hunch, but I think there's a real possibility for this.

Two reasons:
1. Pelosi is tying a Student Loan Reform bill onto the Reconciliation bill for HCR.
2. I noticed slinkerwink's call for Whipping Democrats into supporting HCR on kos: http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/3/15/846353/-Day-OneThe-Countdown-To-Health-Reform-Begins!

Slinkerwink has been one of the most ardent and connected activists for HCR reform on the web. She was previously with FDL, but she parted ways with them. She originally was a Single Payer advocate and when that wasn't a reality, a Public Option proponent. She supported the House bill that contained the Public Option and she still supports the current bill for HCR.

I noticed something peculiar in her whip list: it lists all the Democrats who have voted No on the Public Option or who have said they would not support the current HCR Bill. Except one: Kucinich.

This may be a sign that Kucinich is going to change his vote and the insiders already know this. It could also be why Obama is speaking about HCR in Dennis's district today.

Also keep in mind that she is posting a link from Progressive Congress, and Dennis is one of those members of the Progressive Caucus. He's the only member who voted no on the Public Option and the only member who has publicly said he would vote against the current HCR Bill. If he changes his vote, it would not be the first time a politician changed their vote and it would restore a little faith in me that he is really about helping people who need it.

Of course, there could be many reasons why Kucinich isn't in that whip list. But I suspect a change could be in the works.

4. If he does, it's my position, though just barely
I'm personally also ok if he changes; maybe the point will be made to the President that progressives really want a little recognition here and maybe some assurances can be made.

5. I suspect that Kucinch will stand on principal and say ...
go fuck yourself to students and people that need health care.

For him, it is better to be a spokesmen for progressives then to create progress.

14. I don't know.
I support Dennis, send money and call on important issues. This time I called his office and told him that if he was the final vote that kept this issue from moving forward then he could count me out. Who knows how many people have called or written to let him know that it is not OK this time to stand on ideals that are too perfect to attain at this moment.

24. And after the bill passes, and is revealed in five years to be the POS
that it is, he will again be proven right.

He needs to change his name to Cassandra.

won't cause Dennis to change his position.

21. I haven't made a single OP about Kucinich in the entire time I've been on DU..
Edited on Mon Mar-15-10 01:23 PM by Fumesucker
Others have had less restraint in that matter.

Edited to add: Oops, I forgot I made a sarcastic OP about Kucinich and Toyota yesterday, pointing out the obsession with both subjects here on DU lately..

23. No, you just run around all the other threads saying "Praise Kucinich" or "Obsessed much?"
It's easy to do that, but it's not easy to debate the facts or the merits of the issue, something which you seem incapable of doing.

25. I don't think I've been on that many Kucinich threads..
Mostly I avoid them because the two sides are never going to agree, it's like the circumcision, breast feeding, Toyota and Olive Garden threads, just opportunities for argument..

22. Poor little Dennis-Do-Nothing wants attention desperately...
he takes a daily dose of (his health care plan)Viagra and lo and behold, he didn't grow an inch.

Time for Mr.Flip Flop to go home to 'that mistake on the lake' and retire into obscurity where he so painfully belongs.

Oh yeah Dennis, please take your entire cult of 300 supporters with you.
