A good look at who is financing the HCR opposition
Edited on Mon Mar-15-10 05:54 PM by NJmaverick
The coalition of groups opposing the legislation, led by the United States Chamber of Commerce, is singling out 27 Democrats who supported the health care bill last year and 13 who opposed it. The organizations have already spent $11 million this month focusing on these lawmakers, with more spending to come before an expected vote next weekend.

The Chamber of Commerce is leading the opposition to the health care bill with a coalition called Employers for a Healthy Economy. In two weeks, the group has bought more than $7 million in television advertising and plans to spend up to $3 million more. Americans for Prosperity, a group financed by David Koch, the oilman, is also jumping into the fray with an advertising campaign of nearly $1 million.

1. Ah yes... a healthy economy...
People be damned, but all praise for a healthy economy! Americans for "Continued Uninterrupted" Prosperity for the Wealthy Corporate GAWDS is what they really mean.

4. Isn't it funny that people are claiming HCR is pro-corporate when the $$$
shows that the opposite is the case?

10. It's pro-corporate in the sense that it's a gift to the insurance companies

*That's* what people are criticizing the bill over.

This bill does require employers to kick in a larger amount of their employees' premiums. That's what the CoC is up in arms about.

But, even then, employees will still be paying a large premium as insurance companies are jacking up premiums nationwide in preparation for this and some employers are dropping coverage or making it harder to be eligible for coverage.

2. If the USCoC is against it, I'm for it.
It is that simple. Opponents of this bill on DU keep saying it's a corporate giveaway. And yet, we have the USCoC also against it. What's the equivalence factor in that, do you suppose?

I'm for this bill. It does something for many people. It doesn't solve everyone's problem, but it's better than the status quo.
