Toshiba reads minds with new brain-wave device
The Yomiuri Shimbun

Toshiba Corp. has announced a brain-wave reading device that will help determine timing for activities that require one to be relaxed or ready to concentrate.

The device, which will be sold from May for about 20,000 yen, will help parents understand the most productive time for their children to begin studying, or help athletes to calm down before an event, the company said.

To use the device, a person places on his or her head a headphonelike device that uses a sensor to read brain waves and transmit relevant data to a computer containing special software.

The computer then analyzes the data and displays the degree of concentration or tension graphically.

It would be interesting if this could be used as a feedback device for training oneself to achieve the optimal mental state for learning.

2. I had this idea as a child in the 60's
for a class assignment to invent something. I was laughed at so hard I still don't like public speaking. Even the Scheisskopf teacher laughed.
