Why I'm not donating to the DNC, DSCC, or DCCC.
I just got another letter in the mail from Nancy Pelosi asking me for money. I'm not sending any--but it's probably not for the reasons anyone around here is thinking.

I'm not throwing a fit over healthcare reform. I don't demand that they address my personal #1 issue before anything else. I'm not on some Naderite third-party kick.

There's two simple reasons why I'm not sending them any money. The first is that they're asking me for money which I don't have. The Bush economy robbed me of my last steady job, and since then I've been making ends meet one day at a time.

The second is more complex, and more important: even if I maxed out my legal contributions to them, none of that money is going to be spent in my area. The DCCC won't be helping with a challenger to my Congressman--I should know, I've met and talked to one of their high ranking guys. My awesome new Senator is going to win in her own right, without needing the DSCC. My donations would have literally nothing to do with the races that I really care about.

So, the mailing will go into the recycling bin. Not because I'm angry or on a vendetta, or have hostility of any type toward the Democratic party campaign operations. But just because frankly, I can't help them, and they won't help me.

3. Thanks for completely missing my point.
And going into that "throwing a fit" thing that I mentioned. Your point was the exact opposite of mine.

6. So What Exactly WAS Your Point?
Why did you even bother to post at all? You said you can't afford to contribute, and wouldn't if you could, since there's nothing in it for you. What did posting that do for you? And why on Earth do you apparently think your reason for not donating is any more valid than anyone else's?

7. As usual, offering an alternate viewpoint.
In this case, showing that there are valid reasons not to be throwing your money at the national party which have nothing to do with the firebagger-style rageathons that are so popular on DU lately.

It's intended as a counterpoint to some of the "I'm taking my ball and going home!" posts that have been made angrily denouncing all things Democratic due to the fact that, ironically, the Republicans have chosen to be obstructionist.

5. on one of your points , I am there
we have a repug rep , and it is considered a safe repug district, Our Dems get nothing from my contriutions so I will donate locally. Addionally, I don't want any money from me to go to Lincoln, nelson, Stupak et al. I plan to donate to Boxer and Jerry Brown, and my local candidate. I want nothing to do with Tim Kaine
