My Husband lost his job yesterday
This has got to be the worst news ever for us. He took a pay cut 6 months ago. Then 2 months later took another pay cut. Then yesterday he was told that because he didn't have a Driver's License (long story), he wasn't needed anymore. He has been working for this company for 13 years and now they say he isn't needed. He knew the "in's and out's" of that company and they just sh*t on him.

Oh yeah and the owner is the biggest Republican Douchebag I have ever seen. He told the entire company that everyone was getting a pay cut including him. Well it turns out, he didn't take a pay cut at all. He was told by his accountant (a friend of ours) that he should take his kids out of private school. His wife threw a fit and said she would never put her kids in public school (they live on Palm Beach where the BEST schools in the county are). Oh yeah and they were told that they never should have purchased a home on Palm Beach, but of course they did. They are the fakest of the fake. And now their names are dirt around Palm Beach. And we couldn't be happier. I feel bad for their kids, but this husband and wife are 2 of the dirtiest owners I have ever seen.

When the former owner died in April of last year, the company went downhill. The other owner was a kind guy who took care of his employees - no matter what. He was also a real businessman who knew the Marble and Granite business in and out.

I know when one door closes another opens. Please God, let there be something good for us on the other side.

Thanks for listening . . . Oh yeah and the same day he lost his job, I lost my star. When it rains it pours!!

5. He is looking today
Big problem is the 15% unemployment rate in St Lucie County. Everyone is looking for work there. I have an "in" for him at the company I work for. Hopefully it goes well today. Wish us luck!!

He was definitely looking for an excuse to fire him. Did your husband used public transportation by any chance?

12. I drove him to work each day
We car-pool. I work right down the street and it's about 2 blocks to his office. He was just looking for an excuse, but I really hope they go out of business entirely at this point

11. As one who is currently out of work, I certainly empathize with your plight
Ever since making a career switch 13 years ago, I've been laid off from three different employers (nearly six months from the last one). If it's any consolation, I've had more encouraging signs these past few days than I've had since getting laid off. In fact, I just finished a phone interview a few minutes ago with a company that will pay relocation, which is a valuable benefit. I have an in-person interview next week (sadly, no relocation with this one). Recruiters have begun calling me with requests for information. I'm a heavy-industry type of guy, so I can't help but believe that an upturn in business in this sector bodes well for the rest of the economy.

I realize what you're feeling right about now, and I know it's hard to visualize a better future down the road, but it sounds like your husband will be better off working for someone else. There are intangible benefits to working in a job you love vs. one that literally sucks the life out of you. The job I left 13 years ago paid a decent wage and I would have worked without interruption had I stayed, but I had to work rotating shifts that left me feeling like horseshit from hell, as my body & mind never adjusted to a continually-changing schedule. I regret nothing for having left that environment and the pack of assholes who ran that place.

14. I am sorry your husband had his job stolen from him because of GREED.
My son who has been unemployeed for two years, finnaly got a job he is to start tomarrow..But just stepped on a drain insert, three of the six metal, half inch pegs that held it in went into his heel. I just finished dressing to wound and cleaning up the blood. I pray it heals fast, like over night. It seem's just when things look a bit brighter something like this happens. I'll remember you in my prayers.

17. I am really sorry. My husband's job was precarious for a few weeks in Jan when his boss was fired
for doing something illegal (letting another workers use company trucks, letting the other worker come to work when he wanted, knowing he worked another job at the same time as this job, etc.). The whole department at the utility he works at was in flux and no one new what was going on. Finally the company President sat the dept. down and said they are not going anywhere. It was incredibly nerve racking.

Good luck in the future and DU is always here.

My wish for you is that his new job is at a company that is better than the one he left.
