Tax hike in Britain will leave Wall Street bankers the second most lightly taxed in the world |
|
Stat of the Week
This April, Britain will put in place a new 50 percent tax rate on salary and bonus income over £150,000, about $228,000. That tax hike, says a new study for the Financial News, will leave bankers on Wall Street the second most lightly taxed power suits in the transatlantic financial world. Bankers in New York making $1 million in salary and bonus will, starting next month, pay $100,563 less in taxes than bankers making the same pay in London, $68,054 less than bankers in Frankfurt, $54,624 less than bankers in Geneva, and $31,294 less than bankers in Paris. Only bankers in Zurich would pay less in taxes than their New York counterparts. The difference: $26,510.
