Poll question: The proof of the pudding is in the eating |
|
In the end, the HCR bill will be judged by how well it increases access to affordable medical treatment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I personally expect to be paying more for medical treatment next year. I fully expect to continue to lack access to affordable medical treatment after this bill passes. If a majority of American are in the same boat, the Dems that fronted this 'reform' will have some hard elections ahead of them. If Americans see a noticeable increase in access to affordable medical treatment, then look for some good elections for the dems. --- The proof is in the pudding.

1. Itll be judged by the most effective propaganda machine |
|
People have been voting against their interests for years. The actual impact of policy hardly dictates the political dialogue anymore

but really, if people that cannot afford medical treatment (like myself) are able to do so, I think that they might credit Obama. I know I will credit him if my medical treatment becomes more affordable.
peace and low stress Oregone - keep fighting the good fight..

2. I might rephrase to say |
|
If Americans are convinced they are worse off, it may be hard to ever change their mind, even if they were mistaken.
In pushing for passages, alot of extrodinary promises are being made, and for many, the promise may fall well short of the reality. As such, even if they are better off, they won't be as well off as they were promised, and the GOP will make sure they know it.
There will also be people that are still suffering and dying even with insurance because it will still be too expensive. They're gonna make great campaign ads for the GOP.

3. I am fighting to remain employed and avoid disability |
|
I can avoid being disabled if I could afford the treatment my doctor has prescribed for me. Since I cannot afford the prescribed medical treatment, I may end up being disabled by my illness. All I need is access to affordable medical treatment in order to avoid going on SSDI, but affordable medical treatment is not very easy to secure.

5. Will it with this bill? |
|
Have you identified a plan that you can both afford to buy and use?
Also, as an alternative, do you know what you COULD afford and have you attempted to negotiate such treatment? A friend of mine pays "retail" but always tries to find out what the providers are charging the insurance companies and offers that instead of what gets quoted as the "retail" price.

6. I am insured through my employer |
|
So this bill won't change anything for me except put for profit health insurance companies in even more control of my medical treatment. Therefore, I doubt I will see any increase in access to affordable medical treatment.
I have worked with my treatment providers to receive treatment that I cannot afford. I cannot, however, continue doing this forever. If I use $520.oo per month in medical services, eventually I will end up needing to declare bankruptcy. I just cannot ever pay back the treatment providers for the services that have already been provided. Eventually the provider will get tired of providing $520.oo per month worth of treatment and only receiving $75.oo in payments.
I have found many resources that help me afford my meds, but my co-payments for treatment have been killing me.
Thanks for the reply. Peace and low stress..

you might be surprised. They rarely get the $520, even from the insured.

8. I agree so long as the people aren't aware they're eating Soylent Green Pudding. |
|
But I believe the cat is out of bag on that piece of awakening and trying to extend the current dysfunctional, immoral, illogical, bureaucratically redundant, for profit blood money based, "health" insurance system without universal coverage aka: Medicare for everyone, will ultimately have the long term impact of a 21st century Missouri Compromise, so I checked other.
Thanks for the thread, mdmc.
