Hillary's biggest problem
I don't sense any real fire in her belly to win and to lead the nation in a new direction. The problem is not that she is "Hillary" the problem is that she is boring and unimaginative.

I honestly think Bill wants it more than she does.

2. Three words: First Woman President
That's all she's thinking about. First Woman President. Anything else -- like actual issues, for example -- can take a back seat.

3. She's a careerist
and a coward when it comes to impeachment.
She'll stand by Kucinich when it is popular to do so.
Right now, it would make her look too "left"

she sucks.

12. She pursues her career like a man...but she's a coward?
Short of something really big, impeachment will not happen. I'd like to see it but I don't think this congress will do it. Or any other for that matter.

4. Hillary Clinton...she's boring, she's stiff, she lies, she tells the truth, she married Bill,
she didn't divorce Bill, she voted for the bill that gave * the power he has, she's indecisive, she's fat, she's old, she's young, she's non military, she's a dove, she's a hawk, she's liberal, she's conservative, she's raised more money, too much money, not enough money, she's sly, she's obtuse, she's weak, she's too strong, she's inexperienced, she's too experienced, she's from the south, she's not from the west or the east or the north, she's for immigration, she's against immigration, she's divisive, she's pushy, she compromises, she's rigid, she's a suck up, she's arrogant.....

Want to know the real problem with candidate "Hillary"....

She's a woman who happens to be a lawyer, a former first lady, and a two term state senator,

But mostly, she's a woman.

5. Boring and unimaginative.. Both traditional Conservative traits.
She's playing to the center and center-right per the old Democratic playbook. That's exactly why I don't want her to win.

I don't hate her, far from it, but you're right she doesn't have any exciting and unique qualities except that she's married to Bill.

6. Obama
is her biggest problem. I think she will likely end up with the nomination but Obama is going to give her fits all the way. I think she would be an ok president but I don't think she can win. Obama or Edwards would have a much better chance.

21. yeah, no experience
and that is EXACTLY what I want.
At the moment the the administration is constipated to the gills with career "experienced" think tank parasites and diplomats, and what a fine, fine job they have done, eh?

Lordy, I don't WANT experience. Give me some integrity, wisdom and a bit of insight into human nature.

22. So do the two other "front runners"
IMO - John Edwards, one term senator, Hillary, former first lady, going on two term senator. She does have Bill, but he's not the one running. Not a whole lot of national security experience there.

The current administration has tons of national security experience. I think it's overrated.

The President selects his (or her) administration, and there are a lot of people Obama can turn to for national security advice. Also, whoever he chooses as VP could help out there.

20. men have had they're chance
and the fucking men in charge now are a total fucking disgrace to the human race.

Mrs.Clinton has her faults, no doubt about it, but she is by far the smartest and most experienced of them all. I do wish she'd stand up to these evil bastards and tell it like it is. Perhaps when she secures the nomination she will.

Spending 8 years along side the best President this country has ever had gives her a big edge, imo.

I'm not voting for her because she's a woman, I'm voting for her because America needs her, that and the fact that Bill Clinton would be one hell of a First man... That is all..

27. I have never thought of a President as a sparker of imagination.
Edited on Tue May-01-07 12:55 AM by Breeze54
That isn't what I want in a president.
I'm not sure that's part of the job description.
What I want is honesty and integrity and that they do the job!
Follow the rules and the Constitution. A diplomat.

A lot of men seem to be trying to play the gender card as in,
women will vote for HRC just because she's a woman.

But what the hell have THEY been doing all these years??
Over and over and over again I have heard similar words.

"That's a man's job!"
"She'd never be able to handle all the responsibilities."
"Women aren't strong enough. First fight and they'd cry!"
"A woman? As President? lol C'mon! Get real!"
"That's not a job for a woman."
"It's a man's world. Learn to accept it."

I'm no Senator Clinton fan and I am a woman.
I do not vote based on gender or if they have hair or a beer belly!

I want someone who will keep an eye out for ALL Americans and the rest of the world.
A leader. Someone with a conscience.
Someone who wants to help ALL the people move towards success!

-----------

That's all I've got this late/early. off! ;)

I'll have to refine my comments above. I'll work on it.
Think more about it. I guess that's what primaries are all about.

"What do I want in a leader?
Whom do I trust WITH MY LIFE AND MY CHILDREN'S LIVES,
more than the others running, to look out for MY interests?"

9. I wonder what gives you that impression?
I know a couple of people who have seen her speak and they say she is impressive.
By most accounts, she was excellent in the debate.

I sometimes detect a hint of ennui when she is asked certain questions. Not sure if that is all bad.

16. So it's her supporters who lack the passion, not really her.
Well let me tell you: I was passionate about Dean and look where that got me. This is all business this time. Aside from the normal standards for competence and corruption, I don't care who gets the nomination, there is only one criteria for me this time; they better f'in win. You can get all passionate for the both of us. I'm going to be spending money and working for somebody, but the passion is not directed toward a cult of personality thing. It's work.

And also, I don't envy any Dem getting the job. It's going to be a horrible experience for them. There are huge messes all over the place and no clean or easy way through them. And they better be tough becasue no matter what they do, approximately 49% of the people are going to hate them for it, and they will passionately scream for their head and insult their intelligence, their morals, their families, and even their looks.

18. The problem is she didn't give this speech
The problem I have with the claim "we all had the same intelligence" is the reactions to it differed so widely, and it is very revealing. Why didn't Hillary react as Bryd did? If only she would have given this speech.
(I was not aware that Byrds wife of 69 years passed away this spring, my condolances, Senator)

Arrogance of Power
Today, I Weep for my Country...

by US Senator Robert Byrd
Speech delivered on the floor of the US Senate
March 19, 2003 3:45pm

I believe in this beautiful country. I have studied its roots and gloried in the wisdom of its magnificent Constitution. I have marveled at the wisdom of its founders and framers. Generation after generation of Americans has understood the lofty ideals that underlie our great Republic. I have been inspired by the story of their sacrifice and their strength.

But, today I weep for my country. I have watched the events of recent months with a heavy, heavy heart. No more is the image of America one of strong, yet benevolent peacekeeper. The image of America has changed. Around the globe, our friends mistrust us, our word is disputed, our intentions are questioned.

Instead of reasoning with those with whom we disagree, we demand obedience or threaten recrimination. Instead of isolating Saddam Hussein, we seem to have isolated ourselves. We proclaim a new doctrine of preemption which is understood by few and feared by many. We say that the United States has the right to turn its firepower on any corner of the globe which might be suspect in the war on terrorism. We assert that right without the sanction of any international body. As a result, the world has become a much more dangerous place.

We flaunt our superpower status with arrogance. We treat UN Security Council members like ingrates who offend our princely dignity by lifting their heads from the carpet. Valuable alliances are split. <more>

So that "we all had the same intelligence" line doesn't wash. You may have all had the same intelligence, but you didn't all have the same integrity.
