Fineman on Countdown: Very good sources say Dennis will come out with a Yes Vote tomorrow |
|
Edited on Tue Mar-16-10 07:16 PM by berni_mccoy
Just now on countdown. Cited very good sources. I hate to say this was totally predictable. As predicted: http://journals.democraticunderground.com/berni_mccoy/939

26. I think I will like his deal with Kucinich a lot more than his deal with the Industry. |

3. Hope he doesn't. If all of the progressives had kept their word, we would have a public option. |

5. Reminder: The House Did Pass the Public Option (Kucinich voted against it). The Senate never had |
|
the votes to pass the PO.

7. They passed a piece of crap PO. The progressives said they wanted a strong PO. |
|
He did the right thing and kept his word.
Too bad Obama didn't.

8. Dennis was the only member of the Progressive Caucus who voted against the PO |
|
He voted in block with the Blue Dogs and the Republicans.

9. He didn't vote against the PO. That is twisting history. He stood up for what's right. Are you |
|
going to continue to fight against the PO as long as the politicians in power do?
I ask that of all pro-mandate people.

12. I'm not sure that's true |
|
I used to think that the progressives could have overcome, but I don't think so. I think there's too much stacked against them.

14. There is a lot of pressure on them, no doubt about that. But without the progressives, the bill |
|
cannot pass. Either the corporatists or the progressives had to fold with regard to the public option.
The progressives folded and the people lost.
It's sad to see so many people on the left being okay with a complete sellout. This bill is a give away to the insurance companies and a sellout of our principles and it's being sold as a good thing for the country. It's not. The bill they were selling to us a year ago was.

15. To be a progressive, wouldn't Dennis need to vote like a progressive? |
|
Edited on Tue Mar-16-10 07:51 PM by berni_mccoy
He hasn't voted with them on half of the key votes.

17. LOL! Now you're going to say Dennis Kucinich isn't a progressive? Try to stay on the planet's |
|
surface. please. You want this bad bill, fine. But I hate dishonest arguments.

18. I'm seeing the desperation of the GOP to stop this |
|
and it's hard to imagine a victory for them being a good thing.
Maybe if the progressives had used a different strategy from the beginning, maybe there might have been a public option, but I seriously doubt it. The fix was in. With this president, a public option was not to be no matter what the progressives did, imo.

21. It's a win for the GOP no matter what, now. The public does hate this bill without the PO and the |
|
Republicans can claim they fought against it. They will surely pick up seats because of this bill, which is another reason why I don't understand people fighting for it.
It's like watching a train wreck while the engineer is cheering.

24. The public doesn't hate the bill. The public wants HCR |
|
and the majority believe in this bill. It's not perfect, and it could be better, but it will definitely be a start, and a good one.
