I just experienced 3 house-shaking artillery blasts from the CIA training base near me. It's 2AM.

2. I remember those from the Marine/FBI Quantico base.
Now all I deal with is the tests of the sirens for the nuke plant in the backyard. I think I'll keep the sirens they only test them in the day time at least.

3. CIA - artillery - something doesn't add up

We live near Camp Pendleton and when they are in full practice mode the windows give a rattle around the clock. We live far enough away that it is generally not disturbing.

Artillery can't be done on a regular training base it has to have a long distance range. It requires extremely sophisticated military training. I believe that at Camp Pendleton they train on a 30 mile range but it could be even longer than that.

4. Yeah, there was a lot of that going on near me last night as well.

My aunt is a vet and always says they are getting ready for a mission of some sort when you hear that much of it.

It'll probably be in the news in a few days that our military did something big and the results were such and such.

Of course, they could just be going from state to state keeping people awake for the hell of it, because they can.

5. Which CIA training base?
Tysons Corner?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tysons_Corner

The area is home to Tysons Corner Center – the largest shopping mall in the state and in the Baltimore-Washington area – and two upscale shopping centers Tysons Galleria and Fairfax Square, which neighbor it to the north and south.
...
The corporate headquarters of Booz Allen Hamilton, Capital One, Freddie Mac, Gannett Company, Hilton Worldwide, MicroStrategy, SAIC, Space Adventures, Spacenet, Sunrise Senior Living, and USA Today are located in Tysons Corner, though most use a McLean address and occasionally a Vienna address.<13><14><15>
