Please pass health care.
If for no other reason than to see the effect it will have on Rush, Hannity, and the rest of the RW screamers...

1. That's a poor reason albeit it would please many of us. The Senate HRC is a Trojan Horse ...
chock full of MANDATES with no viable mechanism to control premiums.

Do NOT pass this bill.

2. You said it. The status quo is preferable to this piece of shit bill. Right now, not getting any
access to health care is free...after the Mandates start, no access to health care will cost hundreds of dollars a month.

3. They'll love it
In fact, they're counting on it. Their viewer/listenership will go up by about 50% if this miserable excuse for true HCR passes.

4. I doubt it will boost ratings much.
The knuckledraggers are already in a froth.

From a policy perspective, I tend to agree with your assessment of the current HCR proposal. However, I think it will turn out to be a political winner if passed. The 'public' will have a sense that Congress has done 'something' for them. Moreover, it will be easier to modify objectionable provisions once they're in place in order to move toward more effective policy. As distasteful as this bill may be, I see it as a necessary incremental step.

6. The knuckledraggers are already listening
Its the folks from the mushy middle, the so-called independents, that we need to be concerned with. When they start listening to Limpballs and Shammety, then we're in trouble.

The very best thing to happen is to have this miserable excuse for HCR go down to defeat, while the independents still have time to forget about this really ugly bill, and the even uglier way it got shoved together. Maybe a fresh season of "Dancing with the Stars" will take their minds off it.

7. Rush et al will be FEASTING off its passage --
until the midtern elections. Don't kid yourself. They would LOVE to have this as an issue to whip up the wingers with.
