McConnell suggested that GOP leaders decided in advance that Dems must be denied bipartisan support
* A stark admission from McConnell? This should stoke some discussion today: In an interview with The New York Times, Mitch McConnell suggested that GOP leaders decided in advance that Dems must be denied bipartisan support for health reform at all costs:

*****“It was absolutely critical that everybody be together because if the proponents of the bill were able to say it was bipartisan, it tended to convey to the public that this is O.K., they must have figured it out,” Mr. McConnell said about the health legislation in an interview, suggesting that even minimal Republican support could sway the public. “It’s either bipartisan or it isn’t.”

In the same interview, McConnell said the partisan breakdown in D.C. is largely the Dems’ fault. Discuss.

1. That's been obvious since this whole debate started.
They fear Dem success, and I for one hope their fears are realized. Soon!

2. WE all knew that the GOP would never ever work with the Dems, why are the Dems such wusses
are they completely insane? bipartisanship indeed...what were the dems trying to accomplish?? to look like nice guys??

from day ONE the Obama admin should have been ramming thru one piece of legislation after another eliminating everything Bush put in place.

Instead, they spinelessly kept his policies in place, re arranged a few deck chairs, and wimped out, begging for the GOP to like them.

No, they did not do their job.

It like a bully on a playground. You dont bring him your lunch money and ask him to like you.

You KICK HIS ASS. then he will leave you alone.

the dems keep bringing the bullies lunch money...the taxpayers lunch money.

3. Snowe and Specter have said the same thing. They decided before Obama was even inaugurated to give
him absolutely nothing.

7. Its All Politics
If it weren't someone would have the strength to stand up for what's best for America and not what's best for the party. I wonder how they managed to bring everyone in line...even what's left of their more moderate elements.
