2. KnR. I'm saddened that we now have to see threads that further divide us over the matter.
Suggestions that he was threatened, others about "the bus".

He worked hard, he held out, in the end he did the right thing.

Great post, thanks.

7. There's this explanation from DK in GDP now.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=433x226864

Update: "Kucinich revealed he’d met four times with President Obama, mostly going over his objections, but said he’d been persuaded in part because at one recent meeting he recognized how difficult Obama’s challenge is.

“I left it with a real sense of compassion for our president and what he’s going through,” he said. “We have to be compassionate towards those who are called upon to make decisions for this nation. It’s not an easy burden that he’s taken up.

Kucinich said Obama didn’t make any promises to take up the public option later.

“What he committed to was to continue to work with me on the broad concerns that I have,” he said. “He didn’t make any specific commitment.”"

"Update II: Kucinich said that ultimately he couldn’t escape the argument that “something is better than nothing.”

“People are looking for some hope that maybe something can be changed,” he said, suggesting that he may have been persuaded by Obama’s frequent argument that passing reform is essential in order to prove to Americans that government is not entirely dysfunctional.

Kucinich conceded that he decided to swallow the bill because failure would be a threat to Obama’s overall agenda. He said he has “a real desire for our president to succeed,” adding that “one of the things that bothers me is the attempt to deligitimize this presidency.”

Kucinich said Obama had offered him nothing concrete in exchange for his vote. “There was no Nebraska or Louisiana type deal,” he said."

8. Sweet details! Thank you very much for the reply!
We're all on the same side, and there's a lot of evil out there on the other.

10. I feel those are separate discussions, frankly.
Especially about the "bus" part. I thank DK for his part, but frankly, I'm still very, very sore over being called a corporatist or worse by other DUers, who invoked his name in their arguments rather often. Yeah, he played a role in that, but he's doing the right thing now, and that's what's important. The referred to DUers have not.

11. Aye.
That said, passions do run high because people really care about these issues; we should perhaps take a page from Kucinich's book and respect that we all have trouble moderating our tongue when it comes to issues we genuinely care about.

12. Hear, Hear!
I mentioned the bus and whatever just as examples.

I'm on the side of those who realize everyone has a different strategy and agenda.

I never doubted that DK and Bernie and others and us don't all want the same general reforms over time.

We all differ on how best to get there.

5. good point
. . . he's "on our side", despite his very sharp disagreements over the substance of the legislation. I hope he can get better consideration of his proposals and concerns now that he's supporting the effort to continue the process.

13. I think he realized the vote was too close to
play the perfection card. I'm glad he's come around. And, I'm glad the President took time to court his vote.
