Simple as that. No threats of broken legs or any other crazy ass shit.

DK is a smart man. He was smart last week. And he still is.

1. And he said as much this morning.
http://theplumline.whorunsgov.com/health-care/breaking-... /

Kucinich revealed he’d met four times with President Obama, mostly going over his objections, but said he’d been persuaded in part because at one recent meeting he recognized how difficult Obama’s challenge is.

“I left it with a real sense of compassion for our president and what he’s going through,” he said. “We have to be compassionate towards those who are called upon to make decisions for this nation. It’s not an easy burden that he’s taken up.

Kucinich said that ultimately he couldn’t escape the argument that “something is better than nothing.” “People are looking for some hope that maybe something can be changed,” he said, suggesting that he may have been persuaded by Obama’s frequent argument that passing reform is essential in order to prove to Americans that government is not entirely dysfunctional.

Kucinich conceded that he decided to swallow the bill because failure would be a threat to Obama’s overall agenda. He said he has “a real desire for our president to succeed,” adding that “one of the things that bothers me is the attempt to deligitimize this presidency.”

DK wanted much more (and held out as long as he could for it), but he is smart enough to know that "starting over" won't produce a better bill particularly with the repubs set to gain seats in November.

8. I certainly hope this very nice statement is not an indication he is done when the bill passes
I'm waiting to see how many of the 'it'll get fixed later' crowd actually show up advocating for fixes once the party in the Rose Garden is over with.

My guess is we'll hear: :crickets:

2. I didn't know the rethugs had a version? But I'm also
happy Kucinich made this decision.

5. You call this a Democratic version? Hard to see what's in it that the
Republicans don't like. There are loopholes you can drive a planet through and there's mandates, which Republicans love, without any option for people to turn to when the current crop of insurance companies abuse them. Entrenched enslavement to a corporation with IRS as enforcer.

And you wonder why some people can be convinced that there's no difference between the parties?

7. I hope other Democrats are smart enough to know that the people's version is a lot
better than the insurance thug version, should DK get anything resembling single payer on the table in the future.
