Worker's Party (Lula's) candidate Dilma Roussef, a virtual unknown who was hovering in the low single digits six months ago, (she's Lula's chief of staff, but had near zero name recognition) is now polling 30% against José Serra's 35%. Serra belongs to the corporate-friendly, let's-do-whatever-the-US-tells-us-to coalition that's heavily favored by the big media here. (Now where did you see that pattern before?)

In related news, President Lula's government approval hit a new record -- 75%.
