Kucinich's reversal is a good sign
I'll take it as a good sign. Maybe he got a promise directly from President Obama that a public option or something like it will be added to the Heath Care reform somewhere down the road. I was starting to lean towards passing the bill myself, but this just seals the deal for me.

And all those Obama supporters who were slamming Kucinich day after day should think about an apology. It was a nauseating display of stamping their feet and throwing a fit to try and demonize a good progressive like Kucinich. But I know my suggestion will be met by the sounds of *crickets*.

In any case this is all on President Obama now, and he will have the responsibility of the Health Care reform whether it turns out to be a failure or a success. If the Democrats go down because of this not being a good enough bill, not progressive enough with no public option, and people hating the mandates then Obama will pay the price in lost support and a crippled presidency with a possibility of being a one termer.

1. Yes it is a good sign. Now the fight is limited to one front

3. It's a good sign he decided to be a progressive Democrat again, instead of a grandstander. n/t.

4. I agree, I think that he learned something on that plane that was encouraging
and hopefully will either be in the bill or coming down the pike.

5. Did Dennis' resistance actually strengthen the bill?
I heard a rumor that he got a promise of a PO and/or ERISA waivers. If true, he actually strengthened the bill. Either way, the haters do owe him and his supporters a big DU apology.

6. I got a promise from Obama on the public option back in 2008 - it wasn't worth shit.
Just like his opposition to individual mandates.
Just like his opposition to taxes on good union health plans.
Just like his "fierce advocacy" for the civil rights of gay people.

I think Rep. Kucinich fought the good fight for as long as he could, but there's only so much one Rep. can do. It's not like he's a Senator like Joe Lieberman and can get Obama to lick his feet or anything.

9. I'm told he reversed because the House put a public option in the reconciliation
Good reason

10. The only sign it gave is that Dennis....
has started down the path of being "just another politician".

I will still support him in general but he made the wrong choice today.
