Anyone up for something completely different? I have an upcoming interview with John Perkins
on Haiti and on his projects next Monday.

Is there anything you'd like me to ask him?

1. Lucky you!
I have read two of his books and do like what he has to say. I think he learned the hard way what he was doing and has now worked to stop it by awakening us to the truth.

Let me see if I can think of anything - thanks for posting!

5. Oh, I love John Perkins, E.
I'm green with envy. I got to visit with him for a bit after a bookstore talk he gave.

You lucky-duck.

I'm not thinking of any great ones, but I'm bookmarking this.

Is there any hope anyone else will stand with you and tell the truth about what is going on?

Just how many of our leaders are compromised?....all of them?.....

19. Would you ask him about the missionaries and any lobbying work they are doing in Haiti?
I was shocked to learn of how many church groups were running "orphanages" in Haiti before the earthquake. I would love to know if the Family is involved (my money says they are) and if any of these church groups lobby against reproductive rights for women of Haiti.

22. Since the publication of 'Secret History', corporate power has grown larger even faster,
What do you see as the causes, and how can they be stopped?

Does he see IMF 'austerity measures' being imposed on the U.S. in the future? If so, how will it be implemented?

There's a couple, I'd love to talk with him, I think.

26. Oh yes it's bad. Once the indebted nation defaults on the loans it can't pay
Edited on Thu Mar-18-10 12:08 AM by Greyhound
the IMF steps in and brings them current. Then, since it now "owns the debt" it sells off assets (infrastructure, natural resources) at fire sale prices to the organizations that fund it, eliminate all social programs, and squeeze the people for everything they can forever. Kind of like we did to Haiti.

Since the source of our debt is not the WTO, I'm not sure whether the IMF would be involved but I think we might see the same scenario nonetheless.

Edit;
IMF = International Monetary Fund

Second Edit; When I referred to Haiti, I wasn't talking about the earthquake but rather the "reparations" we helped force on them. I read the following reply and wanted to be clear.

23. Can Hillary Clinton keep Jean Bertrand Aristide out forever?
What the monied classes did to the rest of the world, they are now doing to the USA.

The USA is becoming a lot like Haiti, where 1-percent own an increasing large chunk of real property.

How do you see a way out of our situation -- where money trumps peace?

The warmongers have all the money and power. Does democracy have a chance? How should free people proceed?

PS: There's no better interviewer on the planet for this important work. Go get 'em, Beffers.

And so on. Mark Danner didn't want to go there. Maybe John will.
