Ok... I Will Support The Passage Of This Pin-Pricked Condom That Is Being Sold As HCR ...
But I won't feel protected, and I will not let anyone here forget it if this crap bill isn't immediately fixed.

And I will point out that fact at every opportunity with the passage of time.

AND...

I STILL want some sort of up-or-down vote on the Public_Option/Single Payer so we can weed out the lying weasels from the rest of the herd.

That's me compromising my principles... YOU ???

Call it a baton pass...

1. I think that's terrible. You shouldn't do that.
You know the bill is only going to make things worse, but you're allowing social pressure to change your mind. There's no need to do that- you know what's right, just go with that.

3. Coti... This Thing Is A Done Deal As Far Our Party Is Concerned...
It's most likely a DONE DEAL with the whole of Congress and all the monied powers that be.

The rest is just Kabuki Theater, and a ratings bonanza for political channels, websites, and special interests.

5. It's a close call but I have to agree.
I wonder if some of the moves, or lack thereof that Obama is making, are because of the stock markets? Is he carefully working around anything that could cause a significant drop? So many people gage everything now on how their 401k's are doing.
I would expect the things I would like to see to drive the DOW down to about 7500 or a little worse. HCR with a strong public option would drive health care stocks down. Tough financial regulation and throwing the crooks in prison would cause considerable trouble on Wall Street.
I could see that happen and feel that the markets would come back and be more secure than they are now. I imagine a lot of people would be screaming that Obama single handedly caused another disaster.

6. I can already see the headlines after the mandate kicks in....
"Insurance industry recording record profits this quarter"

"Millions still without coverage, subsidies insufficient"

"Republicans leading polls by double digits"

Then the Republicans regain control of the house, senate, and presidency:

"Government slashes federal subsidies for mandated coverage"

but at least we'll have "made progress" and finally passed HCR.

9. Nope. Not unless some serious flaws are fixed. Which, they will not.
In fact, they are MAKING IT WORSE AS WE SPEAK. They are fucking the unions even harder - as guess that's punishment for supporting him.

11. we only ever needed 51 votes, and I always knew it, so the backroom deals to hospitals
and big pharma aren't making me very happy. I have to agree with the OP, even though I feel that we as a Party, and as a country, could do much, much better than this.
