Moveon has raised 1.5 million since Monday to primary Dems who vote against HCR! |
|
Dear MoveOn member,
Wow! Since Monday, MoveOn members have pledged nearly $1.5 million to support progressive primary challengers to House Democrats who vote against health care reform. That's incredible.
But with the final vote just days away, the House is still short a handful of votes. So we're setting an ambitious new goal to keep the momentum building: $2 million in pledges by Friday. That's a serious sum for any challenger, and will make conservative Democrats think twice before casting a vote.

1. What would they do about liberals Dems? |
|
If a liberal dem votes against it, would they still run against them in the primary? I'm as mad as anyone about this abomination, but in the end the measure of a dem is a bit broader than this one bill.

hate it this bad, it must have some good in it. I was against it too (for same reasons as Kucinich) but I'm coming around. I only hope the special exceptions for Florida, Louisiana and Nebraska and the excise tax exemptions for government workers and some others are removed. The special deals reek of politics and back room dealing that Americans all despise.

After they sorted thru all the BS, they had to make a choice. Just as will all the Democrats that are worried about losing the next election. If they believe the Republicans, this HCR bill means certain defeat for them. If they believe the Democrats, their bigger worry is to vote against it. That is their choice as they stand at the crossroads of their political careers.

and 83% said pass the bill.
edit to add this from a March 15th email from move on:
The final health care package being crafted is far from perfect—and we'll keep fighting together for improvements. But in our member vote this week, 83% of us voted to support the President's proposal because it would expand coverage to millions and curb insurance companies' abuses that hurt regular Americans.2

7. Move on was against the bill when they raised money for everyone who pledged to vote against it WO a |
|
PO. Then they decided that they were against anyone who voted against it. I believe it is called 'managing the opposition'.
