Captioning the internet

One of the people I follow on Twitter is actress Marlee Matlin. Today she's posting some very interesting tweets on working with Google for youtube captioning:

Putting together my trip to Google headquarters in two weeks. We're going to be discussing captioning for YouTube videos. Very exciting!

Captioning is available on YouTube but not everyone knows how to do it. And with YouTube hopefully the rest of the Internet will follow!

Stuff that's captioned on TV is RARELY if EVER captioned when rebroadcast on the Internet. Google's leadership will hopefully change this

1. I just discovered youtube captioning yesterday

I think they turned it on by default because I didn't select it.

The captions were pretty good, but incorrect enough to be slightly humorous.
