The Texas Taliban, State Board of Education Edition. |
|
The nation's colleges can kill this by implementing tests that require actual knowledge of history and science to matriculate. If Texas kids can't get into college, they'll have to rewrite these standards.
I hate to write just short notes for an original post, but I’m in quite a hurry and wanted to get this out there on the intertubes.

1. We already have that. It's called the SAT and ACT. |

3. Those tests do not prohibit people from getting into particular colleges. |
|
And the SAT and ACT only cover some of the criteria.

2. They already thought of this. They can still get into Regent, Oral Robert and Liberty "University." |

4. Not all of them, fortunately. |
|
But I'd really hate to see those types of universities explode in numbers.

8. If the nation's colleges imposed those standards |
|
it wouldn't just be Texas' kids not getting into college. At least 90% of all kids who are now in college would not be admitted. And I think that would be a good thing.

9. If there is a reason that this can't work, I'd like to know. |
|
Talked to two teachers and they can't think of anything, but that doesn't mean there isn't something I'm missing.
If it can work, I hope it's implemented.

10. Good idea, but depends on who writes the textbooks. |
|
And who sets the standards to go by. :hi:
