Frank To Boehner: Apologize For Your 'Punk Staffers' Comment

Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) has written a letter to House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) saying he is "appalled" that Boehner told bankers not to "let those little punk staffers take advantage of you, and stand up for yourselves" when it comes to financial reform.

Yesterday, Boehner told a crowd of bankers at the American Bankers Association government relations summit that "if the Senate is able to produce a bill, I think it's just as likely that we'll be talking about the same issue a year from now as we are right now."

He also told the bankers not to despair and let "those little punk staffers take advantage of you, and stand up for yourselves."

Now, Frank has written a letter to the Minority Leader, saying he's "very disappointed" in Boehner's remarks.

"I am appalled," Frank said, "that a Leader of the House, who must know what good work is done by our staffs, would take such an inaccurate cheap shot at these people, for the purposes of ingratiating himself with bankers or any other group."

He added: "I urge you to apologize to them."

I'm guessing there were quite a few staffers around the Capitol who felt dissed, and who will find ways to let Boehner know it.
