6. I missed that thread, so I'll offer my two cents here...

It looks more likely that the White House lifted the video from CNN or Fox or something, and covered up the chiron text at the bottom -- which probably also says something to the effect of "President declares Mission Accomplished," but my guess is it's not a sinister as some want to make it out to be. Look, y'all know I'm the last one to give these assholes the benefit of the doubt, but if the WH wanted to "doctor" video, they have the ability to really do it...this is a pretty feeble attempt, imho. Which, I supposed is par for the Bush course.

7. I remember reading about a taped * speech a number of years ago

where one of the attendees later noticed while watching on TV that the woman sitting next to him in the tape was not his wife, who actually was sitting beside him during the speech. The tape had been manipulated, replacing his wife with a black woman. He was a wingnut, though, and it didn't bother him all that much.

9. I remember the tie thing and the facade and the taped up boxes

I had missed the changing of the woman story.

The tie story I remember was that the W supporters were told to take off their ties so they looked more working class.

in front of a large assembly of soldiers, but the picture was photoshopped and many of the soldiers were cloned and repeated throughout, making it appear that the group was larger and more racially diverse.

12. CNN just played the speech again...it is the exact same angle.

Sorry guys...I love chimp-bashing as much as the next DUer, but you gotta watch the real tape on the news, which won't be hard to find today. It is from the same angle. All the WH did was block out the network's crawl and text across the bottom. The Mission Accomplished banner was NOT in the picture when he uttered those famous words...it doesn't appear until after the camera zooms out.
