Famous republican quotes about war during the Clinton years...
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/6/18/161016/461

"President Clinton is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home. These strikes do not make for a sound foreign policy."
-Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA)

"No goal, no objective, not until we have those things and a compelling case is made, then I say, back out of it, because innocent people are going to die for nothing. That's why I'm against it."
-Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/5/99

"I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just learning that lesson right now. The President began this mission with very vague objectives and lots of unanswered questions. A month later, these questions are still unanswered. There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our overextended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan today"
-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)

"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is."
-Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)

........etc., etc., etc.,..................

1. Treasonous traitors! Does anyone remember Democrats throwing
those words around in the 90's? Nope, because Dems allow for disagreement and dissention, and are not inclined to question someone's patriotism without good cause. That's all the GOPers have left now to defend their stupid war.

2. Also, Democratic Support for Their President Was Non-Existent
bunch of prima donnas, some of whom were feeling slighted by not getting their "due". Fortunately most of those are gone--defeated, retired or dead.

4. Senator Richard Lugar-May 3 1999 on Kososvo
"This is President Clinton's war, and when he falls flat on his face, that's his problem."

Or Trent Lott May 4 99: "I had doubts about the bombing campaign from the beginning. I don't think we had done enough in the diplomatic area."

Sean Hannity May 10 99: "They haven't prepared for anything like this. And they're running out of weapons to do it And frankly, I don't think Clinton has the moral authority or ability to fight this war correctly."

Newt Gingrich in 1998 regarding Clinton's decision to strike terrorist camps with Tomahawk missles in Sudan and Afghanistan "The president did exactly the right thing, by doing this we're sending the signal that there are no sanctuaries for terrorists." Okay then, Newt on September 13 2001: "The lesson has to be that firing a few Tomahawks and dropping a few bombs is totally inadequate."

7. And don't forget these immortal words.
"We can support the troops without supporting the President."
— U.S. Senator Trent Lott of Mississippi (in 1998)
