LTTE I submitted just now

An Open Letter to Congressman Mike Burgess:

The other evening I was included on your telephone town hall conference call.

You were asked how you voted on the Commercial Loudness Mitigation Act. The questioner was adamant that television commercials should be the same volume as the programs. You said that you couldn’t recall how you had voted, but that it sounded like something you would have voted for.

This passed by a voice vote, providing you with some cover, but you know very well that you opposed this legislation. First of all, it was sponsored by a Democratic Congressperson with 90 Democratic co-sponsors. Also, you signed the dissent to the Committee report, stating: “We … oppose the bill.” I found this information on the Internet in less time than it took you to mislead your listeners.

You fanned the flames of anger about this bill bankrupting the country. The CBO says this will save $138 billion in the first decade, $1.2 trillion in the next and extend the solvency of Medicare. Will you acknowledge this in your next town hall?

From what I heard, I doubt it.

Shameful!

2. Well, actually,
I notice one error.

The cut and paste that I did to print this here, I acidentally dropped a paragraph which made it 250 words - the exact maximum length I was going for.

insert before the last full paragraph:
Another listener was seriously concerned that evil Democrats would make Health Care Reform unchangeable somehow. To your credit you somewhat haltingly said that you were “pretty sure” that this would require a Constitutional Amendment. Then you let your questioner rant on, believing this to be true. You know very well that this is a rank lie spread by right wing talk radio.

Thanks
