1. Ah, yes, those heady days of 'Shock and Awe'
Maximum Leader Chimpus: Today, we have the greater power to free a nation by breaking a dangerous and aggressive regime. With new tactics and precision weapons, we can achieve military objectives without directing violence against civilians. No device of man can remove the tragedy from war. Yet it is a great advance when the guilty have far more to fear from war than the innocent.

The realization by the neocons that our military, any military, barring deployment of overwhelming numbers, can be countered with modern assault rifles, remote detonated explosives, and inexpensive anti-armor missiles was the primary reason any near-term designs on Iran were abandoned. Lebanon was the last straw in this episode of the recurring myth of precision air power.
