Anyone watch Afghan Star on HBO?
Unbelievable that an American Idol type show would cause such a phenomenon in Afghanistan--even with the Taliban. Singing is ok, as long as you don't dance, and if you're a woman, you're a whore and deserve to be killed for singing/dancing on stage.

1. I saw it over a month ago but not on HBO. it's amazing how
the other contestants, young and supposedly "hip" as they appeared to be, shun the girl who let her hair show and danced on the stage. People wanted her KILLED for it for chrissake. In the end, even the other girl who was tame in comparison was getting death threats. It was also amusing the trouble everybody went through to get a tv to work with the generators and such just to watch the show.
