"No Small Victory" - Colbert Shuts Down Matalin Mid-Argument
"Last night Stephen Colbert provided the "Oh Snap!" moment of the evening when he shut down Republican superflack Mary Matalin mid-argument. His rebuttal was so perfect that it made her completely drop her line of reasoning and complement him, which is no small victory."

2. This is off topic but ...
how many shots of botox did Matlin have before going on the show?

Her face was like "a mask." = Zero facial expressions above the lower lip.

Just goes to show, too much celebrity can F you up?

8. I understand that nobody wants to look like a basset hound but IMO
Edited on Fri Mar-19-10 09:06 AM by ShortnFiery
a few facial expression lines are not, at all, unattractive.

It looks absolutely CREEPY when people talk and there's no expression reflected on their face.

I feel like I'm watching a celebrity version of ZOMBIELAND. :spray:

21. LOL I'm hearing impaired - not deaf but
read lips a little, without CC I wouldn't know what the hell she says. ;) Happy that I'm not the only one to notice that.

4. it was in answer to his question to her regarding whether or not Cheney should openly critize Obama
her argument was basically, that cheney is the only person with the experience (since he served 5 presidents), then Steven cut her off by naming rumsfeld and that shut her up. Rumsfeld is still lying low and as far as I can recall hasn't said a word about Obama.

7. Matalin is nothing more than a talking point repeater, like all the rest.
It is what her owners pay her to do...not think, not discuss, not anything but catapulting propaganda.

Talk loud, talk over your opponent, never agree that other's argument has any merit.

They are robots programmed by the oligarchs to go forth and do their bidding.

They sold out for money.

If Matalin was paid millions more by a wealthy left wing organization to say the exact opposite today from what she said yesterday, she would do so in a heartbeat.

13. Not sure if you saw the whole interview - but the talking points area is where Colbert hit her first
He pulled a small card out when he sat down and said he was playing "Republican talking point Bingo" before she could even start. Even with her stiff face you could tell she was visibly shaken and was EXTREMELY careful through the entire interview, lest she fall back into her BS talking points. He rocked her ass at the opening bell and she never recovered.

16. Yep, that's why she floundered.
Whenever the paid shills get dereailed, they have nothing to fall back on.

No original thoughts, no rational arguments to refute with.

That is why the Republicans are failing, and will continue to do so.

11. Jesus said "If you don't work you don't eat."
No, I believe that was from "Cool Hand Luke". That cracks me up, even if it does display what a twisted, made-up view of Jesus the so-called religious right has in their heads.

Edited on Fri Mar-19-10 10:39 AM by dave29
which implies one should not be idle while waiting to be raptured. I had to look it up :)

And it wasn't Jesus, it was Paul (one of potentially three Pauls, who knows)

15. Christians have been misinterpreting Jesus for a long time.
It has certainly been goal of christian leaders to convince people to work for them, but you'd be hard pressed to find quotes attributable to Jesus that slam the poor for being lazy.

14. Ah, that was his first smack down
I don't know why idiots come on that show expecting to fool Mr. Colbert with their limited knowledge of Bible lore. Christ never said "Teach a man to fish..." The proverb isn't even in the sainted book and Stephen knew it because he's a brilliant fucking dude whose actually read the darned thing and retained the shit he read. He slapped her back with actual words attributed to her god of convenience.

Nobody slices and dices like the master of satire -- long live the Colbert Nation!

And I love how he does it all with a big smile.

WATCH IT!
