Hoyer: Democrats have strategy to fight legal challenges to health bill

Democrats are prepared for an eventual court challenge to their healthcare bill, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said Friday.

Hoyer said that Democrats in Congress, along with the Obama administration, have a strategy in place to fend off conservative claims that their healthcare plans are unconstitutional.

"Well, certainly, there's a strategy for doing that," Hoyer said on CNBC when asked if there's a strategy in place to deal with a lawsuit.

"We believe that the administration, the Justice Department and our own counsel will indicate that we believe, certainly, that this bill is constitutional," he said. "I think in a bill of this magnitude, certainly there will be challenges."
