"MAYBE we can turn this thing around in the next 24 months."
Gen. Barry McCaffrey on MSNBC just now. Talked about mistakes made, but how brilliant the team in Iraq is now. Sigh. I don't think 'maybe's' are acceptable.

3. More clustering and harder fucking
That's the way out of this clusterfuck! Thank you, Mr. McCaffrey. Let's see, 24 months at 100 dead each month, that works out to 2,400 more military dead. On a "maybe." Well, as long as none of those 2,400 are you, Mr. McCaffrey, I guess you're comfortable with betting someone else's life on "maybe."

Would anyone bet his or her life on "maybe"?

4. McCaffrey changes his mind on Iraq about every two hours.

First, it's a disaster, but next, we can't leave. Then, we can't win, but now, maybe we can. He is fucked up.

Edit to add: "Turning Iraq around" means we stay forever. Because as soon as we leave, the Iraqis will come up with their OWN way of doing things, which I'm pretty sure the free world would be appalled at. Hell, we can't even get our installed puppet government there to go along with our program NOW, when we have maximum presence and influence. WTF makes anyone think we're going to be able to sustain a lasting democracy?

6. It's a repitition of the "Dig hole Bury head. Sing God Bless 'Murka" strategy of warfare.
The American presence is Iraq is irrelevant save as a focus for producing more "terrorists" around the world.

7. We'll leave Iraq the same way that the last helicopters left Saigon
As the country disentegrates in a violent fireball of death, we will run away. This will happen after we've lost a few thousand more troops that have surged into the area.

8. The only thing they want to turn around is the attitudes of Americans
America is starting to wake up to their bull shit lies and they want to steer the ship right back into that iceberg.

10. Yeah, 24 months, that's the ticket...
...and it gets us over that awkward transition where there's a new President, almost certainly from the Democratic Party ... so we can claim we "turned the corner" right as they took office, and then, when they determine that we have lost and must leave, we can blame it all on them for losing this glorious war...

Whoever said they didn't have a plan?

11. 24 more months? Why not just say in another 2 or 3 decades we might be able to turn
things around? Who the hell wants to fund this travesty for another 24 months?
