Dave what's-his-name is promoting a Draft on AAR this a.m.!! |
|
He's taking calls and supporting those who are in favor of it.
Hey, I've been trying to be cool about the changes at AAR, but . . . !

2. Lionel's show goes live on May 14th...... |
|
I don't know why Sam stopped taping the show so abruptly, unless his contract was up? Or he just wanted to spend time with the family before making any firm committments? I don't know, but I'm not happy at all with some of the changes.
I'm glad Mark Green rescued AAR, but to give himself a show, and reduce Sam to 3 hrs/wk just isn't sitting well with me.

6. I AM having Sammy withdrawal, BUT . . . I know bias when I hear it! |
|
Really I do and I have a great deal of practical experience in processing what people say (and write).
Dave did not ask the tough questions of the Draft supporters and he *particularly* liked the idea of offering Green Cards to immigrants who serve in our Military (!!! - Can you imagine the free reign that will give the Powers-that-be to make War whenever, wherever they want?!?!?!!!). He was very enthusiastic on this idea while he gave the idea of a concurrent "Draft" into Non-violent Service the old brush off.
If they hire this guy, I'm outta' there.

|
In my view AAR made a big mistake getting rid of Sam

3. He just said "you've been saying this war is . . . . |
|
Over" When what people WERE saying in the calls was "This war is IMMORAL". And there's NO way he couldn't have noticed that; it was repeated in something like 4 calls in less than 10 minutes.
That pretty much does it for me with this guy.

5. While a Draft brings chills and shivers, |
|
there is one good feature.
A Draft would PREVENT MORE WARS. We have a ruling CLASS and ELITES whose children are in no way affected by war.
You better believe Congress and a President would think seriously before going to war if the Ruling Class Kids had to be involved.
This does not mean I support a draft necessarly. Just a thought for all to consider.
Another way to prevent unnecessary wars to require a War Tax. If all these tax-hating Republicans knew they had to raise taxes to pay for it--they would be very serious before jumping into war.

9. I am in favor of a draft, just not starting with this president... |
|
...but for future elections, if there was a draft in place, our moronic electorate might show a bit more interest in electing leaders with peace as their first priority. It is amazing how people‘s views on war change when they have some "skin in the game."
I also think we should neuter the military industrial complex by outlawing profits on implements of war. No one should profit from war.

|
Edited on Tue May-01-07 10:13 AM by still_one
and with this administration, PLUS others in Congress who it would be just as bad
Incidently, no one should ever believe that the privledged would be included in a draft. They NEVER HAVE, and THEY NEVER WILL.
Yes, some volunteer, but any of the privledged who don't want to go get special treatment. That is what has ALWAYS HAPPENED in the last 50 years.

Exchanging 10 years of unlimited conscript manpower in order to bring about eventual (and transitory as it turned out) higher participation in politics is a poor exchange. George is running out of manpower and popular support in four years and 3400 deaths, instead of 10 years and 10 times as many deaths.

11. Avoiding a "Universal" Draft will NOT be that difficult for those who |
|
can afford it. And those of the powers-that-be who do go into the Military (for political or other reasons) can always fix their military jobs behind a BIG buffer of Immigrant-warriors or the huge and growing Lower-economic class citizens of this country.
No Way! A Draft will cause more support for Wars of Choice.
The only way I'll reconcile to it is if it includes Non-violent Service also, with significant time commitments that prevent people from crossing back and forth between Violent Service and Non-violent Service whenever it suits them.

They would put those for non-violent service driving trucks on the Baghdad highway
I am against involuntary servitude, and that includes a draft.

ANY support of violence. I think I'd consider perhaps even preventing Medical and Veterans' service unless you enlist in the pro-Violence Draft.

ABSOLUTELY opposed to a Draft.
I seriously feel the tentacles of the Power$$$-that-Be, MSM, Multi-National Corporations, and the likes of AIPAC, reaching for my children, the grand-children I haven't had yet, ALL of Us through voices such as Dave Barber et al.

19. No Repugnican Would Vote For It |
|
They had 6 years to push through a draft and avoided it like the plague...feasting on the poor to fight their wars for profit for them. As we've seen, few, if any, have their own kids involved in this mess.
The game that Rangel has been playing is to call the GOOP on their hypocrisy and bullshit. If they so want this war, they should be willing to vote up or down to send their own kids and face the wrath of their voters when their money has to send their kids off as well.
Right now with contractors, boooshie can keep his war going and growing...all we do is give him another bucket of money like he wants with no oversight.
