Seat-belt complaint on Corzine dropped
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070501/ap_on_re_us/corzine_crash

TRENTON, N.J. - A self-described gadfly withdrew his complaint Tuesday against Gov. Jon S. Corzine for failing to wear a seat belt when he was critically injured in a highway crash.

The complaint filed by Larry Angel was withdrawn just as a judge was to decide whether to approve the complaint. Corzine was released from a hospital Monday and apologized for not wearing his seat belt when his official SUV crashed on April 12.

"The governor's statements of taking responsibility swayed him," said Roseanne Lugg, the Galloway court administrator. "That was all Mr. Angel was after."

Corzine asked for the state's forgiveness and said he understood he had set a poor example. "I'll work very hard to try to set the right kind of example to make a difference in people's lives as we go forward," he said Monday.

1. A repub must have asked him to pull it so the story would last longer.
Actually, he should be charged. He broke the law. The ticket is $49 in NJ for not wearing a seatbelt - at least that's what NBC10 said this a.m.

4. Out for blood. What is wrong with New Jersey?
You have a governor who is paying his own medical bills.

New Jersey wants more Corzine blood...and the guy nearly died.

My husband is from New Jersey originally, and he is so embarrassed at how people are acting.

He nearly dies, and from day one there is a coldness about the seatbelt.

7. The coldness comes from anyone
who has ever been fined by the state of NJ for doing even less than that.

Without pity.

Without discussion.

Without possibility of redemption.

9. There is no human sympathy at DU anymore.
And New Jersey folks have acted very weirdly on this.

11. No, not "out for blood", just that he broke the law and should be
fined the $49 and ticketed - or whatever they do to a normal citizen. I doubt they would drop things for an average citizen. I know Delaware wouldn't. It's against the law in DE to be stopped only for not having your seatbelt on -- BUT, if you are stopped for any other traffic violation or if you are in an accident and did not have a seatbelt on, then you are cited and fined. I figure that NJ's law is similar.

I just meant that if the guy kept the complaint against Corzine, then he'd most likely be cited, pay the fine, and the story would sink into the sunset. Now the repubs can bring it up again and again if he ends up not getting ticketed. THAT was the thought behind my comment.

5. CNN tailed the governor when he left the hospital...says Wolf.
CNN tails him, DU has blasted him from day one. No sympathy for the fact the guy nearly died.

Just the seatbelt.

What is wrong with all of us?

10. There's a coldness here.
It shows whenever the name of NJ's Democratic govenrnor is mentioned.

Why?

What is happening that putting a man down because of a seatbelt is more important than human kindness.

DU has been after Corzine since the day of the accident.

12. It shows that stupidity and a sense of entitlement aren't
necessarily repub traits. He sets a bad example. He should have gotten the ticket. In fact, if he told the trooper to hurry and approved or even urged the breaking of the speed limit, he, as governor, should have gotten worse, IMHO.
