The economy must be ready to either fall off the cliff or rocket to the moon.

After months without them coming in droves, today's mail had a credit card offer and a deck of those credit card checks you can write to get yourself deeper in debt.

By the way, what do you do with those checks? Is it necessary to shred them (which I always do)?

....my 17 yr old daughter got a credit card offer from Discover yesterday. She is a junior in high school and has no job. When will these people learn?

7. We shred junk mail and add it to the compost or use as mulch

Then I call the offending company and tell them what I do with their unwanted solicitations.

The last time I recieved a pre-approved Credit Card was around Christmas time 2008.

My son has been getting several a week mostly from Capital One, despite the fact that he is an unemployed college student. I guess they want to get them when they're young to guarantee a lifetime of indebtedness. Your post reminded me to email the link to him.

13. My 'offers' have been about the same for many years now

The checks I shred immediately and then into the recycle bin.

And mail back the empty envelope that usually comes with all this crap. No sense letting a good paid postage charge go to waste when it's a bank that's paying.

the credit card companies would try to hold you responsible for their misuse even though you knew nothing about it.
