Did anyone call their congressperson today? |
|
Whether you are for or against the HCR bill, I hope you did.
I called Jane Harman's office today to touch base.
I was polite, and did not mention I am supporting Marcy Winograd against her in the primary, but I digress. ;-)

My Congressman is a freakazoid right wing Republican and it would be a waste of time.

When I lived in WA state, Jennifer Dunn was my rep for a long time. She was a real sack of crap, and calling her was a waste of time.
I would do it anyway, if only so I could say I didn't keep my mouth shut. That's what constituents should do: speak up.
But I respect people's individual choice on that practice. I fully understand why you chose not to call. :-)

2. I definitely wrote to/attacked my congresswoman today and yesterday. |
|
What outraged me is that she calls her #1 issue "The Second Ammendment." In fact she is having a conference call I need to get on tonight.
She is not worried about HCR (although, to her credit, she is voting for it), but she thinks we are a bunch of rednecks here who only care about our guns.
She, like Kyl, and unlike McCain, has never written back to me, whenever I write or call her office to challenge her on her ideology.

5. I tried -- twice -- busy. But I've spoken to his office (both locally and in DC) |
|
several times already. (He's voting "yea" though, I was just going to preemptively thank him today)
I also tried to call Grayson's office yesterday and today -- busy busy busy.

to thank him for all his support for healthcare reform (which has been his political goal since being elected--- he's a firm yes vote). After this bill passes I'll get him to cosponsor Grayson's public option bill (will be sending a letter to his office on that one).
There's a rally outside his district office tomorrow which I am attending. He was going to speak at it but he'll be away from NJ then.

because mine happens to be Lamar Alexander and I beleive John Duncan? I could be wrong there, I am in the second Congressional district of Tennessee if anyone else is in it and knows who I'm thinking of. All I know for sure is both are right wingers so it would do me no good.

11. I called Marsha Blackburn's office |
|
I called the Washington number first and told them I was for health care reform. Then I called her local number and told the person answering the phone to tell her how unintelligent she sounds every time she says "Democrat Party." He wanted to know what the plural of Democrat is. ?!@?!?!

12. A liberal ham sandwich could win office in my Cong. district, and |
|
unfortunately, my representative (David Loebsack) isn't that much better than said ham sandwich! I fear he may be in trouble if enough tea-baggers come out this November, but I'm still having trouble generating the necessary enthusiasm required to support his re-election effort. A sad admission of apathy, I know, but the wine brings out brutal honesty.
I know he's voting yes, as he wouldn't do a thing to rock the boat as it is.

18. I facebooked him last night and today |
|
Last night he (Chris Murphy, D-CT) facebooked that he was reading the bill so I posted a comment encouraging him to vote yes. Today he facebooked that he was voting yes and I posted a comment thanking him.
I've had a couple of work-related opportunities in the past few months to have quality F2F time with him (30 to 45 minutes each time) and I always ended the conversation by inserting by personal/constituent opinion about HCR.

22. Bwahahaha, Zach Wamp, not very bright, hard-right driven? |
|
Dumb as a box of rocks, and doesn't care. I've called his office many times and one of his staffers actually asked me once if I had contributed to his campaign.
