Need this debunked ASAP: author just died: "7 reasons why Barack Obama is not a Christian"
This video campaign was hosted by Rev. Don Hamer with the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4cMB8ktCT8

Hamer died today while doing his daily devotionals at home. He is a prominent right-wing pastor in the San Diego area and I have to write an article about him. Already the glowing tributes from prominent conservatives in our area are pouring in.

Surprisingly I can't find a debunking of these videos anyplace online!

Haman also founded a Chula Vista, CA group called BetterCourtsNow.com with a goal of targeting local judicial elections to election anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage judges.

He was pastor at Sonrise Church and more recently, Zion Christian Fellowship in San Diego.

I need info ASAP as I have to post a story including info on his services, but want to show both sides on this controversial figure.

If you don't have answers, please kick and recommend so others will see who may have links or be able to help research these videos. Also if anyone knows if the Obama camp ever officially debunked these, please let me know!

1. Why not just ignore it? You can't argue with crazy.
No amount of actual facts will make a dent in the bullshit. Better just to ignore these idiots.

Unless someone wants to pick up this guy's fallen banner, let him die and his nuttiness be interred with him.

3. Anyone who claims to know the mind of God surely does not.
And they should be treated accordingly.

7. So what if he isn't?

It's not my concern if he's an Aztec. He seems to be doing an okay job as president, and that is the office for which be was elected.

He wasn't elected to be the nation's minister, priest, or rabbi.

So long as he doesn't sacrifice any virgins, what he does to relax is his own business.

These idiots called him a Muslim while freaking out over his Christian pastor.

And you want to "debunk" crazy? No no no.... Crazy doesn't need debunking, it needs therapy and/or medication.

8. What he says in effect is that "salvation" is a matter of guessing correctly
Jesus says: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father but by me." (John 14:6)

If this means what it seems to mean then it means that a person's "salvation" and eternal destiny are a matter of making a lucky guess. If a person happens to guess correctly by "accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior", then that person is "saved" and goes to heaven. However a person who guesses wrong by adhering to a religion other than Christianity is condemned to hell for all eternity. That is certainly what Hamer believed, from what he said in his video.

And I think that a murder victim who is unfortunate enough to be "unsaved" is condemned to hell for all eternity, while if the murderer later "repents" and "accepts Christ", the murderer is let into heaven, according to people who believe like Hamer.

If the things Hamer and people like him believe are true then God is simply an arbitrary tyrant like Hitler or Stalin. And Hamer was no different from a "good German" who went along with Hitler in the 1930's. Hamer unquestioningly accepted whatever is in the Bible, the so-called "Word of God", as being absolute truth, and a "good German" unquestioningly went along with whatever Hitler said as being the truth.

Even if I might have once "accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior" for myself (which I did once; I do not consider myself to be a Christian any more), I could never accept having to worry about whether others are "saved" or "unsaved", and I could never accept the duty and obligation to tell others about Christ with that thought in the back of my mind and motivated by that concern. I don't see how one can get any kind of joy or enjoyment out of life if one really believes that others are "saved" or "unsaved".

Hi Miriam, I have met you. I think I last saw you at a meeting of the Black Mountain Democratic Club in Mira Mesa a couple of years ago, at their Christmas party in 2007.

14. Very few people who claim to be Christian actally are
Because Obama uses his religion as a reason to with hold civil rights from others I'd put him in that category.

I'm not a Christian either and really could care less what someone believes as long as they don't use those beliefs to influence law.

15. Why is it that no one seems to know the definition of blasphemy anymore? Hamer equates his own
understanding with the ultimate omniscient eternal omnipotent totality of "God" manifested in his son Jesus Christ; he claims equality with God in his own mind, compares Obama to his own apprehension of God, finds him wanting and damns him.

Equating one's self with God is Blasphemy.

Even if we yield that The Bible is in-errant Truth, what about that belief would require that we also believe that it specifically contains absolutely ALL of the Truth there is? If The Bible is in-errant Truth what about that Truth would dis-allow it being a perfect sub-set of greater Truth, thus making the human Jesus in The Bible a specific manifestation of a greater universal eternal Jesus that does not depend upon The Bible to be Real? And if that's NOT the case, what possible relevance could that story have outside of itself?

If The Bible is in-errant Truth, why would it be impossible that the narrowness that John 14 alludes to is a purity of universal Truth, not a limitation to a single discrete point, but a clarity and coherence of qualities that we might refer to as Jesus-ness, qualities shared by other great manifestations of those super-ordinate Truths, Buddha, Gahndi and others we have not and never will ever hear of?

18. Pretty much only one response will do.
Well, one response that's fit to be said in polite company.
He claims to be a Christian. That's all the proof we have of Hamer's claim of being a Christian as well.

22. There is no "refutation" for this philosophy
"I am the way" is the steadfast law of Christian fundamentalist exclusivity. Only those that accept Christ as their Lord and Savior will be saved. It doesn't matter if the person is a good person or what they've done in their life, if they do not worship Jesus, they won't go to heaven.

23. That would be logical in any religion
According to the Koran, if you believe in Allah and the teachings of Mohammad, you go to Muslim Paradise. If you aren't a Muslim, you don't go there.

According to the Vedas, if you believe in Hinduism you get to the Eternal Bliss, but people who aren't Hindus don't get to it.

I could go on, but you get the idea: any religion that believes in transcendence (most of them) has a place for you to go when you die if you belong to the church that owns it.

The difference in Christianity is, if you believe in any other religion you go to Hell.

Let me throw a fun vision out at you: You are Shavana and you've been a Hindu all your life. At the age of 95 you die of old age and go to the entrance to Eternal Bliss. They decide you are a person who lived your life well and as faithfully as any person reasonably could, and have earned the right to Eternal Bliss. You walk down a long hallway to enter into this hallowed ground...and halfway down you meet two of Jack Chick's angels. They take you to the Christian Pearly Gates, where the faceless God replays your very boring life, the angel in charge of the Book of Life discovers you're not in it (because you're a Hindu!) and throws you in the Christian lake of fire.
