Oh, Sweet Jesus! Get Ready for The Ronald Reagan Centennial Celebration
So, I'm watching "Caprica" when this commercial comes on:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WW9FqwTi3ac

For those that don't want to click, it's a GE commercial celebrating and praising their former pitch man, Ronald Reagan. GE is a sponsor of the Ronald Reagan Centennial Celebration. Reagan's 100th birthday is this coming February.

So, we've got months and months of "celebrating" Reagan ahead of us. Thus, gather all of the facts and keep them handy for when the media begins their canonization of THE worst president in our history.

God help us all.

6. I pass his Tomb going to and from work every day. I spit symbolically and
take comfort in the thought that at least I live upwind from his rotting carcass.

But I do love his and Nancy's son Ron. IMO he is the only thing they did right.

27. I refuse to believe he was ever Governor of California.
Fortunately it was mostly before I came to live in CA, except for the last two years. Blech!

2. I don't think he's the worst President in American History..
that would probably be Warren Harding, followed by Richard Nixon, followed by George W. Bush..

Reagan's only the 4th worst President in American history...

5. Nixon's Record Is Kind of Mixed
Some of his stuff was indeed odious, but some of his stuff wasn't bad. For example, we're about to pass his version of Healthcare reform.

As for W, without Reagan, there is no W.

7. I would put him ahead of Nixon.
IMO, raygun makes Nixon look like a statesman in comparison.

9. Warren Harding has gotten sort of a bad rap.
And Junior's presidency used Raygun's as a template. Nixon looks liberal from this distance although he was a cynical, corrupt bastard. I still have to go with Raygun.

15. I make Reagan either first or second
Reagan's position in the Hall of Infamy depends on how you rate Bush. Anyway, either Reagan or Bush is the worst president, followed by Poppy Bush, Herbert Hoover and Warren Harding. Nixon is number six because compared to Reagan and the two Bushes' atrocities, Nixon's were mild and reversible. (And Nixon wss no choirboy--he was as crooked as everyone says he was. You know you're in trouble, though, when you're sitting here thinking Richard Nixon wasn't that had of a guy.)

26. I know what you mean... I was thinking the other day, maybe Nixon was
not that bad compared to some of the others, then I caught myself and said wow, isn't that something to be thinking maybe Nixon was not so bad. I was right next to him once in traffic in DC, just the way the traffic stopped at the WH, and there he was, with his famous scowl, just about a car width from me. I looked over, he was staring at the back seat, looked really in deep thought.

18. And he's still evil. Everyone I know from Central America
Edited on Fri Mar-19-10 10:24 PM by EFerrari
knows someone killed in his dirty wars. Not "knows of" someone but knows someone or lost someone.

And there are indirect damages, too. The current leader of Nicaragua made a horrible deal with the Catholic Church in order to be in power -- to outlaw abortion. So, women can't have chemo, for example, if they're pregnant. Back in the day, the Church was a more mixed bag and there were a bunch of liberation theologists working in Central America. And we know what happened to them with Raygun's support.

20. We'll have to
Because by the time Beckerhead, Limpballs, Billo The Clown, and the whole Hee-Haw gang get finished, they'll have convinced everyone too young to remember the truth that Reagan walked on water, and was the greatest American hero ever. :puke:

29. Start saving dried cat shit in gallon zip lock containers.
Keep a few bags in the car and whenever you see a sign for this silly event, empty the contents on the ground in front of it. Be sure to take the bag and dispose of it by mailing it to whatever address is looking for donations for this silly event.
