Man Says He Has Been Dealing Drugs For 2 Years

OCKLAWAHA, Fla. -- An 81-year-old Marion County man is accused of selling marijuana from his home.

Carlton Griggs was arrested Wednesday and charged with drug possession with intent to sell. He was taken to the Marion County Jail and released Thursday.

Authorities say Griggs told them he had been selling marijuana for about two years from his Ocklawaha home, less than 20 miles southeast of Ocala.

The Ocala Star-Banner reported that Griggs' wife declined to comment. Griggs was not available for comment.

Griggs was also charged with possession of a firearm without a serial number. Authorities had found a gun in his car. The drugs were found in a cooler in his cellar.

1. Firearm without a serial number?
Any sympathy for Mr. Griggs is gone after that.

6. Guns made in the US before the 1968 firearms act were not required to ever have
serial numbers, and most companies had them for their record keeping purposes only. Most shotguns and rimfire rifles prior to '69 had no SN's...I have owned several of them. Most states don't register these guns anyway, and people are free to sell them personally rather than through a dealer.

The serial number is nothing magical that prevents crime.....

7. Probably get a few years in prison so he can be "rehabilitated".
Stupid laws, stupid legal system - waste of time and money inflicting misery for no real reason.

14. From a certain perspective, it's a win-win.
Getting the government to control the competition makes good business sense.
So, the mafia and the politicians they control can continue to make big bucks off Dope Inc.

Ask Jebthro and Smirko.
