John Lewis called a "N$gg$r" Barney Frank called a "F$gg%t" today on the Hill by teabaggers
Cross-posted at: http://blog.windycitywatch.com/2010/03/anti-health-care-teabaggers-show-true.html

Anti-health care teabaggers show true colors call Rep. John Lewis a "N*gg*r" & Rep. Barney Frank a "F*gg*t"

In case you had any doubt that the Teabaggers were nothing but a bunch of hateful intolerant bigots check out two reports today from their "kill the bill" action on Capitol Hill today:

From The Hill:

-snip-
Rep. Andre Carson (D-Ind.) claimed Saturday that healthcare protesters at the Capitol directed racial epithets at Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) as he walked outside.

Carson, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus along with Lewis, told The Hill that protesters called Lewis the N-word.
Tea Party protesters held a rally outside the Capitol on Saturday, which included speeches by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and actor Jon Voight, and then proceeded into the halls to lobby members at the 11th hour.
-snip-

From Talking Points Memo:

-snip-
Not long before, Rep. Barney Frank got an uglier version of the treatment. Just after Frank rounded a corner to leave the building, an older protestor yelled "Barney, you faggot." The surrounding crowd of protestors then erupted in laughter.
-snip-

I would hope that Rep. Michelle Bachmann and other Republicans who welcomed the Teabaggers to the Hill condemn these actions immediately and send their apologies to Representatives Lewis and Frank.

32. I think this is all staged...
...just like the Brooks Brothers riot was intended to give the illusion of pro-Bush supporters
during a critical time--I think these people are actors too.

They're attempting to position anti-healthcare people as nutty, bigoted idiots. True, some of the
tea baggers are that very thing. However, there are many people, including myself, who are concerned
that this is a non-reform mandate that helps the insurance industry but does very little to control
costs, reform the system or get the damn insurance companies out of the equation.

Plus, we are forced to purchase health insurance from these companies who spent millions buying off
our politicians and bending their arms in the weeks that led up to the healthcare debate and votes.

I want reform. I don't want to be forced OR FINED to purchase anything.

I'm not bigoted. I think the names hurled were contemptible. However, I've never heard of the tea
baggers going this far. NO doubt that some of them are bigots and haters. However, this feels just
a little bit staged.

Please remember..the health-insurance industry wants this bill. They want it big and bad. They are
concerned about a couple of provisions, but I'm sure they've been given assurances that what they dislike
will be eradicated in the coming months.

We are being played at every turn, people. Please remember, they are "history's actors". They've admitted it.

52. Actors for the Dems?
I have met people that say, "I'm never been prejudice but you watch, the blacks will take over". This was said prior to Obama being sworn in. This was an educated person I had known for over 20 years. So her sign would say "The Blacks are taking over". She would be no actor - they are truly out there.

They have been pumped up and lied to day in and day out by the likes of Glenn Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh, etc, etc. This has been a long time coming and was completely predictable.

This is not staged. This is what happens via propaganda. People get riled up and believe the worst. Especially about people who are not like them.

The ugliness of th is hate is incredible.

I worry about the potential for violence. People are being whipped into a frenzy, and I worry about people being targeted.

45. I'm concerned as I think this nation is becoming very unstable in the populace with
the potential for violence. I think there are a lot of nuts out there being whipped into a frenzy and for some this healthcare argument is an excuse to vent their hatred and violence. I find it quite embarrassing for this country in the eyes of the rest of the world. As a poster said in another series of conversations, this nation is in "A Dark Age." ...much as akin to Medieval Times.

63. Lewis and Frank react of course with true class
Civil rights icon and veteran Rep. John Lewis, D-Georgia, said anti-health care bill protesters Saturday repeatedly yelled the "N" word at him as he left a heath care meeting and walked to the Capitol.

"I haven't seen heard anything like this in more than 40 years, maybe 45." Lewis said. "Since the march from Selma to Montgomery really."

"Yeah, but it's okay," Lewis added. "I've faced this before. So, it reminded me of the 60's. There's a lot of downright hate and anger and people are just being downright mean."

A CNN producer overheard the word "faggot" yelled at Frank several times in the lobby of the Longworth building. Frank said he heard someone yell "homo" at him.

"I'm disappointed," Frank said. "There's an unwillingness to be civil."

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/03/20/protesters-hurl-slurs-and-spit-at-democrats/?hpt=T2&fbid=_8BKtDLzpMu

One of the lowlife racist teabaggers also spat Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Missouri. The spitter was arrested by the Capitol Police. Referenced in the above link.
