DeLay back at Capitol for healthcare protest

Former Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) was in the Capitol on Saturday as lawmakers cast the last vote of the day.

DeLay said he was in the building to talk to his former colleagues and that he was at the Capitol for the protest against the healthcare bill.

Protesters outside the Capitol and other House office buildings screamed "kill the bill," and Rep. Andre Carson (D-Ind.) said that racial epithets and slurs were hurled at some of the lawmakers.

When asked whether he heard the language used by the protesters, particularly the N-word that Carson said was directed at Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), DeLay said that he did not, but added that emotions "are running high."

2. So DeLay excuses and justifies racial comments and use of the N-word..
.. by saying "emotions are running high."

He should be in jail anyway.

6. Yes, why isn't he in jail?
But as far as racial comments are concerned, anyone who truly cares about discrimination against minorities would not be cheering for this Health Insurance Bill.

It discriminates more than just making comments. It bans the treatment of sick Immigrants, including children.

We as a party, are no longer in a position to slam Republicans when we are hurting immigrants even more than they are now.
